Description

A retired SEAL is about to face his toughest assignment yet. As a nanny...

Fixer. Bodyguard. Advocate. Brann Calder is expected to play all these roles and more as a member of Torus Intercession, a security firm guaranteed to right what’s wrong. In the military, catastrophe was his specialty. Five months out of the service, Brann is still finding his way, so a new assignment might be just what he needs. Unless it includes two things sure to make a seasoned, battle-trained veteran nervous: life in a small town, and playing caregiver to two little girls.

Emery Dodd is drowning in the responsibility of single fatherhood. He’s picked up the pieces after losing his wife and is ready to move on now, hopeful that his engagement to a local patriarch’s daughter will not only enrich his community but will grant his daughters some stability, too.

The only thing standing in Emery’s way is that he can’t seem to keep his eyes - and hands - off the former soldier he’s hired to watch his girls until the wedding.

Emery’s future is riding on his upcoming nuptials, but being with Brann makes him and his family feel whole again. Too bad there’s no way for them to be together.

Or is there?

An amazing story

This has to be one of the best stories I have listen to on this site. It has just enough action and humor to keep you on the edge of your seat. It is so pure and loving. I fell in love with Brann just as fast as the girls did, if not more. The beginning is a little boring, but once he's out in Montana, it's non-stop amazingness. I laughed, I cried, I screamed. It pulls so many emotions from you in just a few words. Mary Calmes' made an amazing story that I hope many people listen to and enjoy.
Scott R. Smith did a fantastic job voicing all of these characters, his voice clearly chaining so you clearly know when it's a new character speaking. He's voice made me fall in love with everything. He seemed so excited for parts of it, almost like a childish joy. This story is filled with a lot of childish joy and is too freaken sweet. I can no say that enough.

I honestly hope that there is a part two soon, and hopefully this isn't the last we hear of Brann, Emry and their girls. Best Nanny ever.

Upbeat and Very enjoyable!

4 Blue Roses
4 Blue Flames

Narrator Scott R. Smith delivered a funny and upbeat romantic comedy. He is talented and a natural narrator. His voice is beautiful, smooth and versatile. His emotions flow subtly into his reading making listening to his work very enjoyable to listen to this author/narrator duo.

I am a Mary Calmes fan, so as soon as I saw this new audiobook, I just had to have it. The story line is kind of predictable, but it was still an adventure with a HEA. It was a beautiful romance, and I will keep my eyes open for the follow up in the series. The characters and upbeat experience is like a little blue pill, it picks you up, but you have to continue to take it just forget about it, until it comes around again.
Otherwise, you will get weak, needy and just plain addicted.

Happy Listening.

4.5 Stars

Scott R. Smith does another good job bringing all the characters to life and setting an easy listening pace in this contemporary romance with a likeable cast and a very Calmesian plot. 😘

Single POV, with no cheating, plenty of heat later in the story, a bit of a mystery to play out, and a very happy ending. I loved it.

Great New Series - Super Plot - Excellent Cast

This is another wonderful dimension to the Mary Calmes universe of storytelling. Although an improbable scenario of a retired Navy Seal becoming a nanny in rural Montana, it nonetheless became a sweet story of family and love. I look forward to the next book in the series.

It would be cool to do a crossover with Miro Jones and Ian Doyle from the Marshals Series with Brann and Emery’s story ... and have both Tristan James and Scott Smith collaborate on the narration. The Marshals are looking for a fugitive in rural Montana and need Brann’s help.

One suggestion: The narrator blew it on the pronunciation of Montana’s state Capitol City, Helena: the proper pronunciation is HEH-LUH-NUH, NOT (!) HE-LAY-NA. The story of naming of Helena Montana is widely known as it was a compromise name between Union and Confederate veterans of the Civil War....and even then there was a disagreement as to the proper pronunciation. Scott Smith’s performance was fantastic except the constant mispronunciation of Helena (HE-LAY-NA), so 1 star exception.

All fixed in the end.<br />

No quick fix was right up my alley. Any small quibbles with this story are excused as I found it delightful, heartwarming, touching and romantic.

In addition we get a bit of a mystery and murder to be solved! What's not to like? Also a cast of interesting and diverse characters to keep the story interesting and moving along.

Perfect Quarantine Period Listen

This book is just what I needed for this crazy quarantine period. It's low in angst. Great story. Enjoyable cast of characters, specially Olivia and April. There's a bit of humor injected in some parts of the story and I have laughed out loud a few times. There's also a bit of mystery. Frustrating in some parts because of Brann's stubbornness, but I don't blame him one bit. The story actually touches a lot of tough subjects and emotional aspects, but Mary Calmes found a way to write it without being too heavy on the angst. Also, there's a lot of steam once the MCs got together. Mary Calmes knows how to write some sexy scenes!

I enjoyed Scott R. Smith's narration of this book. He is a new-to-me narrator and his performance was great.

I can't wait for the next book of this series.

Great story. Great narration.

This is the great book if you need a positive emotional boost that includes pretty men. The narrator was an excellent choice.

Narration really dragged down an average story

Putting Scott R Smith on my "do not listen to" list. Every sentence started acceptably loud and fast and ended more drawled out and way too breathy. Every sentence! It was very annoying. It added an unrealistic feminine quality to every character's voice. And while the main character's voice was acceptable, once you got more than two characters in the scene, narrator frequently got the "voices" mixed up and they were already hard to distinguish. This is the second book I've listed to by this narrator and I won't listen to another. Sure, there are much worse narrators out there, but he's narrating a well known, well liked author. I expected better.

I am a Mary Calmes fan but this wasn't one of her best stories. It would have been significantly better if it weren't written in first person, another perspective to liven up the story a bit. Bran came across as way too perfect in actions and temperament yet was constantly berating himself while story line "said" he had an abundance of confidence.

I loved it.

A lovely story. It was heartwarming from very early on. The writing is good, the location is easy to visualize. I'm glad I bought it and the time listening was very well spent.
This is my second Mary Calmes book after Stand in Place. I enjoyed them both, but No Quick Fix more. I'll keep reading and listening to her.
I'm confident to recommend it.

Good book bad background noise

I thought the story was good and the narrator was great. Am I the only one that can hear all the background noises? I hear freaking birds and traffic. It takes me out of the story and drives me crazy.

Bit too rosy red for my taste

Characters are missing depth and everything that occurs in the story seems to to fall into place just so, and fit a bit too perfectly. All the supporting characters seem one dimentional and a little to... convenient?

Nice and fluffy warm story, however I'll skip the sequel thanks...
