Histoire
Ghost/god Wes Cooper and his not-life partner, vampire Hudson Rojas, have settled into cohabitation in an upscale part of Toronto. So what if their hoity-toity new neighbors haven't exactly rolled out the welcome mat for the paranormal pair? Their PI business is booming, and when a suspect they've been tailing winds up in the morgue, it's alongside a rash of other shifters in apparent drug-related fatalities. Now, Wes and Hudson must connect the dots between the shifter deaths and an uptick in brutal vampire attacks across the city.

Histoire
Some people are born lucky. Then there’s me, destined to be loved by the man who knows my darkest secret. My gift has followed me my entire life—the ability to see the threads of fate. I can see the red thread tying together two people destined to love one another. But my gift has another side to it. A darker side. I can also see a simple black thread tied to the fingers of those who aren’t aware of it, connecting them to the person destined to kill them. And when I look down at my own finger, I can see the red thread stretched over to Bishop King.

My whole life, I’ve been taught to despise shifters. So when I’m hired to track two escaped convicts, I’m suddenly thrust into the world I hate - or thought I did. Yet I’m inexplicably drawn to the alpha of the pack, whose land the convicts may be hiding on. He’s different than any shifter I've ever met - laidback and quick to laugh, caring, and protective. As secrets are revealed, I start to wonder if everything I’ve been raised to believe was a lie, though it may not matter, because it seems like someone wants us dead.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Description
Dying isn't what it used to be.
Wes Cooper was dead. Then he wasn't-though he's not exactly alive, either. As an immortal not-ghost, he can transition between this world and the otherplane, which makes him the perfect thief for hire. For 70 years he's made a "living" returning items to their rightful owners, seeing his fair share of the bizarre in the process. But he's never witnessed murder. Until now.
His latest mission brings him more than he bargained for: a very-dead actor who is definitely going to stay that way. It's just Wes's luck that his ex-boyfriend, Detective Hudson Rojas, is assigned to the case. Hudson broke Wes's heart years ago - and could again, given he's rocking a hot silver-fox look that shouldn't be legal.
As they work together to track down the murderer before anyone else gets hurt, it becomes clear Wes and Hudson have unfinished business. And when a secret Hudson's been keeping threatens more than just their happiness, it might mean the end of their not-life together - permanently.
Contains mature themes.

Slow start but a great book
This book has a lot to offer. I nearly put it down at first, but as the investigation got underway, it definitely gained momentum. The one thing I loved best about it was the ace rep. It's great to see a book with layers to the ace experience rather than black-and-white absolutes. A note to sex-averse ace readers: this book does contain described sex.

Very good!!
This is a new to me author, but the book sounded good, so I took a chance and am I ever glad I did.
One MC is an almost ghost and the other is a vampire, recipe for disaster. Add in that they had once been in a relationship, toss in several murders... mayhem ensues.
What I especially liked was the slow burn as the MC's faced what went wrong before, accept that they aren't the same as they once were, and realize that the love they once felt was still there.
The narrator was excellent. Great story telling and voices. The only problem I had was at one point where more than one woman spoke, they sounded the same. But that wasn't enough for me to knock down any stars. He deserved all 5.
This one is highly recommended, and I look forward to the next installment.

Wes Cooper and Hudson Rojas are as lovable as the mystery and magic are enthralling. Brought to life with wonderful and engaging narration by Greg Boudreaux, Jenn Burke's Not Dead Yet sparkles with pun-tastic banter, second chance romance feels, and a magical world that sucks you in and keeps you absorbed to the very last sentence.

Ghosts, murder, love and.... plot armor.
This fun was a urban-mystery fantasy romance that was mostly very delightful. Wes and Hudson was given such good chemistry both by the author writing the hilarious jabs between the two and the amazing narrator that was Greg Boudreaux (seriously, how does one person give such distinct voices to so many characters?). Most of the story was fantastic, loved all the backstories each main character was given and turning of the plot, it definitely flows every well.
However, the novel towards the final 1/4 headed for eye-rolling cliche land. Protagonist is wanted by every bad guy, bad guy catches friends to force protagonist to comply, protagonist despite better judgement does what bad guys ask to save his friends but at the last moment, bad guy is defeated because....plot armor and..lOvE and FrIeNdShIP, doesn't make any sense but hey, in the end they live happily ever after! Yeah, had double reading speed.
I will say, the performance was spot on, Greg Broudreux brought the characters to life, he gave every single person a distinct voice and quark, one of they best narrators I listened to !

Characters that suck you in and make you want more
I loved this book. After being apart from 30 years, the characters are brought together by circumstances they can't control. They are forced to acknowledge their pasts and have to start working through all the issues they had that drove them apart. I love the character growth in this book, and how they become better both because they choose to be better people and because their relationship means being better for each other.

Pathetically BAD. Do Not Purchase
I have to assume positive reviews on this book are fake. It is one of the WORST books I've found on Audible to date (out of hundreds). The main protagonist is whiny, weak, pathetic and annoying. The story draaaaags on and is just so...irritating. The narrator is weak. I wanted to like it and support Canadian artists, but...Zero stars aren't an option so I'm leaving it one. AVOID AVOID AVOID this TERRIBLE publication.

WOW, A TRULY FANTASTIC SERIES!
Excellent. So good. Lots of action, magic and humor throughout. One of the best in this genre. The romance between the two main characters, Wes. Cooper and Hudson Rojas is very good. There some sex scenes but not so much to spoil the whole story and personally I like that very much. After reading some gay books written by other writers which have so much sex scenes appearing In practically every alternate chapters that ends up giving me the impression that all gay books deals mainly with sex. Bravo to Jenn Burke for writing a perfectly interesting series! I love the voice actor, Greg Boudraeux who brings to the story to life with his awesome performance. I hope there will be more books in this series.

Good story. Good narration.
An interesting twist on the traditional ghost story.
I liked all the characters including the side characters. Sometimes M/M romance based stories ignore female characters altogether which seems a bit ridiculous to me. An extra half star to the author for including a nicely developed, interesting, and important female character in the book.
As usual the narrator was great. I much appreciated the fact that the narration actually had Canadian accents.

So good
I’m ashamed to admit that I didn’t have very high expectations for this book. I was so wrong, this book is so good. I loved it so much. Wes is such a lovable character and Hudson grew on me (though I wanted to reach into the book and slap in at one point). The story was amazing, there were enough plot twists that I never guessed who the “bad guy” was until it was revealed, which is rare for me, I usually have that figured out right away. I actually laughed out loud, which is also rare for me, I read a lot of book with humor and even though I think they are funny I rarely laugh out loud. I also cried, which is a lot more common for me, but I sometimes judge how well a book is written if it didn’t make me cry. I love when authors pull the emotions out of me.
The narrator also did a great job bringing the characters to life. The narrator really gave this book the energy it deserves.
I don’t have a single negative thing to say about this book. Which is also rare for me, lol, I’m picky. I was so happy when I got to the end and realized that there is another book in the series. I can’t wait to get started on that one!

Not fireworks
3.5 Blue Roses
3.5 Blue Flames
Narrator Greg Boudreaux gave a good performance of this new paranormal romance. I usually love all things vampires, but listening to this audiobook felt like work while I was waiting for the fireworks that never came. The plot is perfect, but the dialogues were dry and I didn't experience any emotional connection or intrigue from the characters.
I recommend this audiobook for a younger audience, or listeners who like good vampires.
Happy Listening

Not What I Expected...
When I read the outline for this book, I was slightly intrigued and wanted to know more. Well, I'm not a spoiler but I will say...it was not what I was expecting...it was so much more. Meeting Wes Cooper and Hudson Rojas was interesting and you could feel the unresolved feelings between the two through the words of the author (Burke) and the delivery of the words by Boudreaux. Thrust back together after some time, the intense feelings are palatable. Murder and mayhem ensue...not to mention some plots and twists that involve the paranormal and supernatural. A great start to a series and I look forward to reading the next section of the story...

What a Let Down
This book started out pretty good. The first half I liked... and then it died. The ending was sooo hard to get through. There were some good parts, but the constant whining and crying and boo hoo-ing had me rolling my eyes and cringing. The main character is so weak and pitiful.

Did the story keep me engaged: absolutely
Was I invested in the characters: definitely
What did I like about the story? was fun, entertaining and well paced. More story than sex (which I like) and the unique take on a ghost and vampire romance!
Was there anything that didn't work for me? nope - loved every second of it.
Overall comment: Jenn Burke is a new author for me and I was thoroughly entertained, and surprised with some of the elements of this delightful paranormal romance. Both the main and supporting characters are well written and likeable. I'm diving straight into book 2.
Narrator comment: Greg Boudreaux can do no wrong in my book. I'm so happy he''s narrating this series, his skill and performance as a voice actor bring these characters to life and do justice to a story that shines. 😁.

Must Have!
I just finished this and I'm about to dive into book 2 and I already pre-ordered book 3. Jenn Burke is a new to me author and I picked this up because Greg Tremblay was narrating it. I had just come off a heavy book and I wanted something not. I usually go to a new detective or police book so this was in my browsing and I said sure why not.
What I didn't know was that I was going to be in store for one of the most brilliantly written books I've listened to this year. Greg nailed this book beautifully. I loved this book so much that 30ish% in a bought a copy for my BFF and forced her to start listening to it. So far she loves it too.
I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say that it's unique, fun, loads of humor and feels that had me tearing at my desk twice. Thank you Jenn for sharing your imagination with us and thank you Greg for bringing it to life for my ear holes while I write boring software test scripts.
If you haven't read or listened to this book and the series go do it don't wait. I guarantee you need this in your heart. ;)
