This Kelly Simmons offering is "acceptably entertaining". The psychopathology driving the teenaged 'Myles' (and making him a suspect in the murder of a neighborhood girl) is frankly bizarre: an obsession with animals.. particularly dead or dying ones. The suspicions regarding 'Uncle Ben' (yes, that's his name🙄) are flimsy, and the sibling rivals 'Hannah' & 'Hillary' coming together (along with distinctly unlikeable 'Grandma Eva' to become amateur detectives: finding the real killer and acquitting Ben) are too unbelievable to contemplate. It's fortuitous that Simmons writes passably well.

Likewise fortuitous: Recorded Books Inc. decided to cast two competent readers (Morgan Hallett and Suzanne Torren) to provide the narrative from the perspectives of Hannah and Eva. Neither are particularly outstanding, but do a nice job. The tandem strategy also helps underline the storytelling structure.

This audiobook iteration of 'Not My Boy' is a reasonable time investment as a 'Plus' opton.. but this 5/10-star product wouldn't merit a Credit.
