Taken at face value, this story is about a man who allows himself to give in to the resentment generated by his own shortcomings and failures.

I absolutely loved Pete Simonelli's narration here. He does an exemplary job of giving, in my opinion, the exact proper tone and emphasis to the Underground Man's self-serving railing against existence.

Note to Self: Don't be like this guy.

This is my first exposure to Dostoyevsky like I imagine it would be for a lot of people. I listened to the entirety of the book in one sitting, the pacing is fairly quick and the book isn't long which left me wanting more. The narration is good and sells the character fairly well.

First Dostoyevsky experience.

This book was dark. This was my second Dostoevsky book and it definitely won't be my last. if you like Dostoevsky, I think you'll like this book. The narration was pretty solid also.

The darkest of Dostoevsky

Pain, resentment, anger and hatred expressed in the most pointed detail. To think there are actual souls walking this Earth suffering this way arouses my sympathy for some reason. It must be hell.
Would have been interesting to have the narrator with a Russian accent, but as it was the narration was as if he was the real character.
