À propos de cet audio
Tracy Deonn’s #1 New York Times bestselling Legendborn Cycle continues in the sensational third book about a dazzling contemporary fantasy world that blends Southern Black Girl Magic with secret societies and the legend of King Arthur!
Severed from the Legendborn. Oathbound to a monster.
Bree Matthews is alone. She exiled herself from the Legendborn Order, cut her ancestral connections, and turned away from the friends who can’t understand the impossible cost of her powers. This is the only way to keep herself—and those she loves—safe.
But Bree’s decision has come with a terrible price: an unbreakable bargain with the Shadow King himself, a shapeshifter who can move between humanity, the demon underworld, and the Legendborn secret society. In exchange for training to wield her unprecedented abilities, Bree has put her future in the Shadow King’s hands—and unwittingly bound herself to do his bidding as his new protégé.
Meanwhile, the other Scions must face war while their Round Table is fractured, leaderless, and missing its Kingsmage, as Selwyn has also disappeared. When Nick invokes an ancient law that requires the High Council of Regents to grant him an audience, the Order’s Merlins imprison him. No one knows what he will demand of the Regents…or what secrets he has kept hidden from the Table.
As a string of mysterious kidnappings escalates and Merlins are found dead, it becomes clear that no matter how hard Bree runs from who she is, the past will always find her.

Joniece Abbott-Pratt was fantastic as always, but I wished she was the only narrator. Having multiple voices for the same characters made the story difficult to follow at sometimes.
It is not clear to me which actors voiced each point of view, but the actor who voices Mariah’s chapters was a bit difficult to understand at times.
The actor who voiced William’s chapters did not know how to pronounce some of the names, and there should have been some quality control or editing to catch that. It is very jarring. The voice actor for Natassia was fine for the most part, but she pronounced Briana differently from the main narrator.
I enjoyed the complexity of the characters and unpredictability of the story

I feel so many emotions right now, I do not know how I feel about what happened or that ending. but OMG..... please read this series, please read this book and recommend it to everyone. Just wow.... it is amazing.
From the complex characters to the intricate world, this is a phenomenal book and series.
Some demons will devor you whole, and this book definitely will.
I am not okay, this book has caused so many conflicting, intense emotions in me that will not be satisfied until the next book. Amazing job Tracy Deonn
WOW! A must read, Tracy Deonn did it again!

The earlier parts of the book take on fresh perspectives and I was looking forward to riding that wave completely through the book. But it reverted back to Bree focused after part 2
Over all I enjoyed the novel as much as the past ones. it gets a little dry in the middle like many novels but I do think it was rather well paced.
now my 2 biggest grievances lay in the fact that Deonn doesn't seem to trust her readers and repeats details and information over and over and I felt it a little off putting but I guess this is for a younger audience than myself. and the other issue I had was that ENDING.
I've noticed that Deonn has this habit of cliffhanger endings. They tie up details but the ending dumps about 16 new threads in your lap and leaves you hungry for more only to have to wait years for the next one.
It's the one thing that keeps me from suggesting this series yo more people. If we could have one ending that's along the lines of "okay we've dealt with *insert issue* we still have *insert other issue* but we need a break. we need to step back recover and recuperate and gather allies/supplies/stuff but we are determined to take on *insert other issue*" I would be very appreciative.
despite my dislike of the cliff hanger ending. I know I'm picking up future books in the series.
Deonns detailed writing the warmth colour and characters she writes so well are always encompassing and makes me feel part of the story even when it's not for a middle aged white man.
