À propos de cet audio
Growing up in high society, James Ferdinand never imagined that one day she'd end up working as a server. But after her authoritative father gives her the ultimatum she needs to find a quick way to support herself since she's unwilling to give up on her dreams. The answer is landing a job at Orso, a fine-dining restaurant in the heart of Marsford Bay.
Between learning to navigate the grind of restaurant life, trying not to cry in the walk-freezer, and rebuilding her life, there is only one silver lining—a line cook that seems to always make her shifts a little easier whether it be with a cheeky grin or a delicious mid-shift snack.
Ozzy McKenna, the tattooed jester with a Casanova reputation, is immediately smitten and makes it his mission to charm the new girl. But James isn't ready for anything serious, having just broken up with her abusive long-term boyfriend.
Their attraction, however, is undeniable. James proposes they become friends with benefits; making a deal to hide their arrangement from their coworkers at Orso.
However, despite their best efforts to keep it casual, things inevitably begin to change.
All they need to do is get out of their own way.
Contains mature themes.

Was this book delicious? "Yes, Chef."
Holy hell it is HOT in this kitchen. 🔥
I will read anything Naomi writes. I don't know what it is, but her writing style is beautiful without being flowery. It's digestible but rich and smooth. In all three of my previous ARC reviews of Naomi's books, I went on and on about how much I LOVE her writing. So, I suppose I'm doing that again, because I truly cannot get enough. Reading this book - somehow, Naomi made it feel real, like I was a bystander inside Orso, watching this entire story play out.
This is a contemporary romance, but in true Naomi fashion, she takes us through a journey that feels very real and hits some seriously tough topics. So if you have any triggers, be sure to check the warnings before reading.
First and foremost, I'm obsessed with Ozzy. Secondly, I absolutely love James.
James is the good little rich girl who's life is not as pretty as it seems from the outside. After taking on the struggles of a life of independence from her parents, James finds herself in a run down apartment and working as a server at a restaurant to stay afloat where she develops a crush on one of the line cooks while also trying not to set off her abusive boyfriend.
Ozzy is the bad boy line cook who is doing his best to support and provide for his fractured family. With three younger siblings, a father struggling with alcoholism and a mother in prison, its not easy to keep his younger siblings on the right track.
Naomi keeps referring to this book as a "silly little line cook romance," but she gives us SO much more than that. It was almost cathartic to read. I cannot express how invested I was in the character development of both James and Ozzy. I found myself cheering for them both individually and together. The journey to healing themselves and supporting one another through their own healing was so impactful. Ozzy was James' biggest champion. He helped boost her self confidence and self worth, while encouraging her to follow her dreams and passions. When Ozzy was struggling, James refused to allow him to deal with it on his own. She showed him over and over that he was doing the best he could and she would be the person to always show up for him and be there when he needs to let go. The character growth was so satisfying to witness.
Listen, I've read a LOT of romance novels of all spice levels. It takes a LOT for me to blush, but ooooh boy I think Naomi managed to make it happen. The snicker's!? 😮💨 James & Ozzy's chemistry is everything! 🔥
Overall, I absolutely LOVED this book and these characters and I can't wait for more people to read Naomi's words.
With book 2 coming out soon, I wanted to do a reread via audiobook and it brought me back to how much. I love these characters. The narrators did a great job!

Line Cook Romance
This was a reread for me but I thoroughly enjoyed this in audio. It’s not duet style if that’s what you’re looking for but I thought the narrators still did a great job!
