But between Rebecca’s flame-tamer’s temper and the Guild’s hidebound elders, David can’t make headway on anything, even what he most wants for himself, pursuing Rebecca.

With the Guild divided about the legitimacy of female Wrights, the prospect of a school to train them turns the disgruntled Wrights desperate. The disenfranchised faction is ready to do anything to stop the school, to stop Rebecca, to stop anything that looks like change.

But since the Wrights face extinction if they don’t join the modern age, David and Rebecca have little choice but to use everything at their disposal to get them on the Wright path.
