À propos de cet audio

Between 1854 and 1930, more than 200,000 orphaned or abandoned children were sent west on orphan trains to find new homes. Some were adopted by loving families; others were not as fortunate. In recent years, some of the riders have begun to share their stories. Andrea Warren alternates chapters about the history of the orphan trains with the story of Lee Nailling, who in 1926 rode an orphan train to Texas.

Much of our history is being lost. Helpful to learn this part of it. Moving story.

Very interesting to learn about this historical situation. It is a pity that more of these orphans have not published their story. There are probably very few left but maybe the descendants of these orphans could combine by publishing a book containing as many of the stories they can find.

Powerful and emotional

Why wasn't this taught in school? I had no idea about these poor orphans and what they went through! Very well done-I highly recommend reading/listening to it.

A very well told story about orphan trains......

It's important to continue to keep stories like this alive, so history doesn't repeat itself. But I don't recommend it for very sensitive children.

Not a story for sensitive kids.

I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the orphan train riders and the true story of one such child who overcame a very rough start in life.

A beautiful story of historical significance
