"Heath Miller smoothly narrates this young adult fantasy.... [He] ensures that listeners of all ages will thoroughly enjoy this audio experience." (AudioFile Magazine)
Writing as A. Deborah Baker, New York Times best-selling and award-winning author Seanan McGuire introduces listeners to a world of talking trees and sarcastic owls, of dangerous mermaids and captivating queens in Over the Woodward Wall, an exceptional tale for listeners who are young at heart.
If you trust her you’ll never make it home....
Avery is an exceptional child. Everything he does is precise, from the way he washes his face in the morning, to the way he completes his homework - without complaint, without fuss, without prompt.
Zib is also an exceptional child, because all children are, in their own way. But where everything Avery does and is can be measured, nothing Zib does can possibly be predicted, except for the fact that she can always be relied upon to be unpredictable.
They live on the same street.
They live in different worlds.
On an unplanned detour from home to school one morning, Avery and Zib find themselves climbing over a stone wall into the Up and Under - an impossible land filled with mystery, adventure, and the strangest creatures.
And they must find themselves and each other if they are to also find their way out and back to their own lives.

Intriguing story! I recommend!
The story was really interesting and kept me hooked, I enjoyed every second! I love this style of writing!
The narrator messed up a few voices though sometimes accidentally swapping the male and female character voices and causing a bit of confusion, but he did a pretty good job overall, I am satisfied.

Excellent book with a perfect narrator
This is an extremely well written story that has some parallels to the Oz books. This interweaves so well with the novel MiddleGame by Seanan McGuire it’s wonderful. You get insight into the story that helped form the story of MiddleGame. The children in the story are full of character and impeccably voiced by Heath Miller, he really brought the entire story to life. I can’t wait for the next book and I definitely hope there will be many more.

An adventure
This story takes you on a wonderful adventure. It’s clever, seamless writing brings you right along with the children as they travel through the Up and Under in search of a way home. Like all the best fairy tales, the choices made change their goals and they learn a lot about not only themselves, but this new and dangerously delightful world, and also the place they’ve always called home. It’s is brilliantly narrated by Heath Miller who not only brings to life the voices of the children and fairytale creatures alike, but also captures the spirit of the story with tone and timbre. Under the Woodward Wall is an enjoyable diversion that also has substance.

Delightful.
Heath Miller is my new favorite narrator. I hope he returns for Along the Saltwise Sea.
An excellent companion to Middlegame and enjoyable in its own right.

Unfortunately, the book was not for me!
What's the purpose of writing under a Sobriquet/Nom de plume if the publisher puts it right up front, "Seanan Mcguire writing as A. Deborah Baker", hmm and I ask you? I don't get it!
So... yeah I was suckered into getting Seanan book!
Any fan who's followed Seanan's career knows that she adores The Wizard of Oz, but me personally? Ugh... not so much!
There are many good things to be found in Seanan McGuire's book, characters like the Owl, Meadow Sweet or the Crow Girl... but the book is too lyrical, and just too pretentious for me! So no, this book is flat out not for me! I DNF'd it and I'll be returning the book to the seller!

It was “improbable” to be disappointed, but…
It is the first book of this author that I didn’t like. The plot is nonsense and leaves no flavour in the mouth. I probably won’t remember anything of it next month. The characters aren’t nice, at all! - I usuallly like the silly, whymsical friend type, but Zib and the Crow Girl seem awfull, stereotypical companions. It reminds me of The Wrinkle in Time, but without the morality or the dystopical /interdimensional insights.
I think the author understands children more than I ever will and maybe I’m being mean because I wanted more stories about the Wayward Children. This time, however, I don’t want to know more about these characters. I want to leave and forget this dreadfull ending that leaves room for a sequel.
