The accents were hard to take and as a Trinidadian the description and language used to describe the island was so colonial. It was dripping in the idea that Trinidad is a backward island which the protagonist escapes to as if it isn’t a real place. The characters lacked development. The detailed descriptions of things unrelated to the plot were distracting .

The book had great ideas but at times really over the top

The narrator killed the story. The accents male, female but especially the island accents 🤦🏾‍♀️. Would've been better to have male and female voices as well as better Trini and Bajan accents but that's just my opinion. No disrespect to the narrator
