À propos de cet audio

Tavi of Calderon, now recognized as Princeps Gaius Octavian and heir to the crown, has achieved a fragile alliance with Alera's oldest foes, the savage Canim. But when Tavi and his legions guide the Canim safely to their lands, his worst fears are realized.

The dreaded Vord - the enemy of Aleran and Cane alike - have spent the last three years laying waste to the Canim homeland. And when the Alerans are cut off from their ships, they find themselves with no choice but to fight shoulder to shoulder if they are to survive.

For 1,000 years, Alera and her furies have withstood every enemy and survived every foe. The 1,000 years are over....

The Codex Alera books are hard to classify. To some extent, they're historical fiction about Roman legions. But they're set on an alien world, so it's science-fiction. But some people are able to manipulate elemental forces, some of which are personified, so it's fantasy.

In any case, it's not finished yet, so it's a series!

in some aspects the protagonist Tavi (Octavian) reminds me of Richard Rahl from the Sword of Truth series.

The "Vord = Borg" comparison has been noted by other reviewers.

Rome away from Rome

It amazes me how Jim Butcher. can develop his story with such detail a d his characters are compelling to say the least. It is told in such an incredible manner that you don't realize that it is one woman. Two great talents put together makes for perfection.

GOD I CAN'T GET ENOUGH!

I have loved the entire Codex Alera series. The only problem I have with the listening experience are the random horns that sound throughout the books. #Audible1

Much like with Academ's Fury, this book was formatted with mini 2-5 minute "chapters" which did not sync at all with the book's actual chapters. So much like my rating of that book it loses a star due to this formatting issue. Otherwise I'd give it a 5/5. Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series is awesome.

Again with the mini chapters

I really enjoy the series and love Kate readings work. there are some small problems with the editing, minor skips in dialogue or pauses that are too short.

Great book, great narrator, minor problems

This was a great book and it was delivered well, I don't think I would like it with any other narrator. Unfortunately the places the cut the 2 audios together sometimes missed a second of the narration. I don't know if this is the production or the terrible download but it happened on my computer and on my phone. The only one so far that did have this problem tho so it's a very small inconvenience.

awesome book but

A great continuation of the series. Jim Butcher does a good job continuing character growth on most of the characters. Some were clearly more interesting than others. Kate Reading is, as usual, a great narrator. However, the editing or the audio file cuts out at the end of sentences occasionally throughout the book. Or the audio edits are too close together and it sounds like words are being mushed together. It took me out of the immersion a few too many times.

Great Story, Poor Sound Editing/audio file

Minor issues with editing. Did not find that this detracted the story or performance. Not sure why others expressed so much concern over the editing.

Another great story and performance.

I quite enjoyed this book. Unfortunately, when comparing with the 4 previous books in this series, I found the quality of the audio terrible. Sometimes the pauses are too long and other times no pause at all. The worst for me was all the popping and distorted sounds. I made sure it was not my device, just in case. Turned out it is the recording. Other than that, the story was excellent as well as the narration. Too bad the sound quality bothered me like this. I ended up reading the book instead.

Excellent book but terrible sound quality
