Year three at Dragonis Academy was supposed to be manageable. I'd survived two years of brutal competition, backstabbing classmates, and professors who'd rather see me dead than graduate.

I even have Klauth by my side now, who just happens to be an ancient dragon king. The universe has a sick sense of humor when it comes to my life.

The black cursed egg I've been carrying since last semester pulses with dark energy. Thauglor teaches me everything he can while he's imprisoned. Meanwhile, my father's agents lurk in every shadow, and now the headmaster himself appears to be playing a deadlier game than I realized.

Two gauntlets stand between me and survival this year. The tri-yearly purge is approaching—a sanctioned bloodbath where the student body "weeds out the weak." Then there are the war games, where failure means more than just academic probation.

Oh, and did I mention I'm apparently supposed to become Klauth's queen now? For my "protection," of course. Because nothing says safe like painting an even bigger target on my back.

Between uncovering a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of the academy, protecting a cursed egg, and trying not to die on a daily basis. This year is going to be my breaking point... or my crowning moment.
