À propos de cet audio

When Earth is transformed into a realm of myths and monsters, one man finds both purpose and power in the fight for survival, in this fantasy adventure.

Elijah Hart is dying. Wracked by cancer and weakened by chemotherapy, all he wants is to spend what little time he has left with his sister and her family in Washington. But fate has other plans. When the mysterious World Tree extends its branches to Earth, Elijah's Seattle-bound flight crashes into the Pacific Ocean and a game-like system takes hold—reshaping humanity's future as well as his own destiny.

Waking up on an island in the Pacific Northwest, Elijah finds himself suddenly gifted with magical powers and an innate connection to the natural world. As a Druid, he has the ability to wield Ethera and harness the power of nature . . . if he survives long enough to master it. The influx of magic has rendered most technology useless, throwing humankind back into a preindustrial age. But the world hasn't just changed; it has expanded, in both scope and danger.

Now Elijah must level up quickly, learn how to control his powers, and adapt to his new abilities to take on the forms of powerful beasts. Because Earth is under siege: Reptilian Voxx emerge from dimensional rifts, wreaking chaos and destruction. Desperate humans battle for resources, seeking to harness Ethera for their own survival. Even worse, dragons and other ancient beings with the strength to destroy the planet on a whim are beginning to stir.

With each trial he faces, Elijah becomes healthier, stronger, and more powerful. But will it be enough to save himself—let alone the world?

The first volume of the hit LitRPG apocalypse series—with more than 15 million views on Royal Road—now available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook.

This book is amazing! It's my favorite series and I'm so happy with the audio book.

I highly recommend to anyone that's a litrpg fan, it's got a really good pace, not that system heavy, and the progression of the MC is pretty steady and very fun to follow. 10/10, highly recommend!

My favorite series

Good pace of action, reflection and cultivation path with enough struggle to make the OP main character feel fun. Looking forward to the next in the series!

Great fantasy progression for nature and survivalist lovers!

I've greatly enjoyed every moment of the MC but the continued perspective switch to the sister every other chapter is honestly such a waste of a listen. if we had just gotten a short background filler after they came together and the entire story was focused in the MC that would have been enough for me but nearly every chapter with the sister was flat out skipped for me.

Too much focus on the sister.

Story:
Druids in this gernre is rare, and the writing quality is pretty decent, but I have this whole list of complains about the story:
* At least 40% of the book is about the sister, giving the impression that this may be a dual-MC book. It takes focus away from the real MC
* There are many similarities to Defiance of the Fall
* MC's background of a doctor in Biology doesn't match his mannerism and thoughts. His action present him as more of a regular white collar, not an academic, so ... plot armor
* MC doesn't gain power or win clutch fights through his own merit (intelligence or willpower), but with plot armor again
* MC's power set lacks originality - it's basically a feral druid from World of Warcraft
* Cultivation asepct seems under-developed and tacked on.
* No skill progressions. It's only stats points + new skills every few level

interesting concepts, lacking execution
