Description

FROM THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF LOST IN TIME

At CERN, a scientist has just made an incredible discovery—a breakthrough that may answer the deepest questions about human existence.

But what he's found is far more dangerous than he ever imagined.

Dr. Tyson Klein is a quantum physicist who has dedicated his entire life to his research. At CERN, he analyses data generated by the Large Hadron Collider, the world's biggest and most powerful particle accelerator. Now, Ty believes he's found a pattern in its output. It looks like an organised data stream, being broadcast over what he calls a quantum radio.

Could it be a signal from another universe? A message sent from the future? Or something else entirely?

As Ty peels back the layers of his discovery, he learns that what he's found isn't what he thought it was. The encoded message is far more profound. It may alter our understanding of human existence and the universe.

But Ty is not the only one looking for it. Someone has been following his research for a long time. And they'll do anything to prevent him from unravelling what is being broadcast by the quantum radio...

Because the first one to discover the truth may well control the future.

interesting story, terrible writing execution

As usual Ray Porter is brilliant with unique character interpretation subtly added to his narration.

The story is one of intrigue and mystery that sell itself really well initially, but falls short in execution. Smart characters make irrational decisions and the plot moves forward sometimes in unsatisfying ways (don't want to spoil anything). I actually liked the ending a bit more than other reviewers here but hated the middle portion of the book, would not recommend.

Started off strong and then trailed right off.

I loved the first half of this book. It was interesting, suspenseful, and made me want to see where it was going. Then the last half was just, boring in comparison. It turned into this action adventure book that seemed to forget entirely about the mysteries the entire first half of the book set up. Awesome narration as is standard from Ray Porter but really disappointing feeling at the end.

Very little SiFi, slow burn

Started strong then turned into slow burn spy drama. Not sure it should be in the SiFi section.

Steven Hawking as a Historian. The best!

The story holds together to spin a nice tale. The premise is somewhat worn and promises more words in the fashion of more books if you’re interested. The wordsmithing is very good.

Ray Porter does a fine job as usual. Hope the historians feature Steve again… in another universe. 🙏🏼

Solid First Audiobook

Started getting into audiobooks to keep me busy at work and this was a solid choice for my first one

The story actually managed to keep me hooked despite my short ADHD attention span. The only thing that left me a bit disappointed was Penny didn't have a bigger role she was just there and not there until way later But again very solid story. will be listening to the future books.

Loved the cloke and dagger edge and then all of the scientific craziness, very entertaining.

"its okay" not far from "not for me"

Save your credit. Even Ray Porter does not save it!

It honestly just isn't a great book. I even think reading it (which is still a very different experience from listening to one) I would not have been pulled into the story.
I wanted to like it, I really did. The premise was exciting and I was looking forward to seeing what happens.

This book is a drag... I really just wanted it to be over. I could have cared less if the main characters just died and the book ended half way through. Would have made for the same experience.

Lastly, Ray Porter was no way as engaged as he has been. Even he seemed to just want it to be done with it.
And as a German speaker... Ray... its Sicherheitsdienst! Which for an English speaker would be "sicker-heights-deenst", not whatever you spewed out there. 15 second google search would have helped not making every person with a little German knowledge cringe every time you word shat yourself!

Wonderful !

The story transpired me like one of those amazing dreams that don’t leave you for days, making you puzzle over the references and interpretations. It all sounds much more than possible, more like sooooo probable! Special thanks to the narrator who brilliantly takes on the various voices of each individual character and somehow stays faithful to each tone and cadence at every exchange of words in the story, what an amazing job!

Can't wait for book two

Very polarizing reviews and for good reason.
I believe it's the intention of the reader.
If you're looking for a new twist on something familiar and a way to occupy yourself with a good story and great characters, then you've found your story.
If you tend to dissect the facts and demand an explanation for the science, I warn, this is not the story to give you a plausible, sound, scientific, evidence-based way to travel through time and space. If the author could. I doubt he'd be writing.
I'm a day out from reading and the story is still with me. I find myself pondering some of the themes. like choices. and looking forward to what I think may happen next. I have a few theories that I am excited to see if I got right and really need Netflix to come through with a series. I'd love to see this story on the screen.

Fun story

While this story is comprised of familiar story elements, it was executed wonderfully and I enjoyed it. It could be the beginning of a series but it stands well on its own as it has a complete storyline. Soft sci-fi with good character development and fun premise. Great narrator too.

Brilliant, gripping and well plotted

Loved this, the characters felt real, the plot was quite suspenseful, the plot didn’t get bogged down with exposition

I’ll be watching for the next edition eagerly

Even Ray Porter Couldn’t Save it

It feels like the author slapped this story together with little or no proofreading or editing. Characters behave inconsistently and there are silly errors with the timeline. Suspense building seems overly forced.

Honestly, there are some pretty good plot elements, and parts of the story are very enjoyable. Overall, though, it’s a pretty terrible listen.

Terrible Alternate History

This is one of the worst stories to which I have listened on Audible (and I have 1500 audiobooks in my collection). The write up by the Sunday Times is totally misleading. This story is about an alternate timeline for the outcome of WWII. That's been done many times. This novel does it poorly with grating characters who talk about mundane pablum. Totally unbelievable stuff.

Don't wast your credit.

A meandering mess with some daddy issues.

This could have been a really good story, but there way too much exposition before getting anywhere. There were many times I thought, "Will you PLEASE hurry up and get to the darned point?". It became too frustrating after a short while and made it a real struggle to get through the entire book.

The author must have had daddy issues. Two of the main protagonists have fathers who had left or were gone while they were rather young yet somewhat reunite with them.

There's a point near the end where we're kind of left hanging. We don't know if the Pax agreed to the suggestion or not. We're just left to assume that they did.

I guess what upsets me most is that there was so much wasted potential for the story.

The only thing that kept me listening was Ray Porter, but even then, he didn't seem as engaged as he has been in other audiobooks he's performed.

All in all, I found this one extremely lacking.

Too stupid for words

Very sad. My favorite narrator. Terrible story. Shame on you Riddle. Just nonsense. Call it magic don’t pretend that you know anything about quantum physics or any biology or any science.

A Little Bit Sliders, a Little Bit Quantum Leap

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book, Ray Porter makes it all the better.

This book is a mashup of two TV shows that I enjoyed in my youth, one called “Sliders” and the other called “Quantum Leap”. Both were great shows and this book puts a different spin on the same concept.

Awesome

A.G. has done it again!!! I'm already excited to see what comes next. It started a little slow for me but it picked up quickly and never stopped. The entire plot was mind blowing and I love the 4 main characters.
