Description

I like this series. It's not brilliant, but it is solid and consistent, with interesting mysteries. I appreciate the main character. At first, I thought Paolo was... off? Boring? He is measured and thoughtful, aims to always be a decent person, controls his temper, is quick to apologize when he does something wrong... But it is actually really refreshing!
The same can't be said for half the female characters (impossibly shrill and awful) and a few of the minor characters (the officers giving Dave a hard time, for instance, was also unrealistically awful). The villain was good, though.
The crimes were satisfying. I liked the writing. There was a bit of character development, too. And I have no complaints about the narration.
All in all, a good installment.
