Rainer Hase, a former cop, takes an assignment as an undercover private investigator to rescue a young woman named Cara from a religious cult. He manages to infiltrate the cult quickly and easily and soon discovers the dangers that he is now faced with. There are monsters, genetically modified humans and religious cult members led by the pastor, a man named Solomon.
Rainer becomes addicted to a powerful drug given to him by the pastor and soon falls deeper into the darkness of the cult, threatening his own sanity and life.
I listened to the audiobook version of the story and found the narrator, John Young outstanding. The writing and story are imaginative, captivating and well done. The imagery and rich use of similes and metaphors by the author are witty and served well to paint a vivid picture of each scene.
I recommend this story to thriller, crime drama and horror readers.
