I learned so much listening to this book. It opened my eyes to how extensive the preparations were in the USA for the possibility of a nuclear attack, at the peak of the Cold War. While I don’t believe things were on the same scale in Canada, there were some Canadian insights, and there are always common elements, such as NORAD. I think Americans would get even more out of this book than I did.
Of particular interest was how far all these precautions fell by the wayside in later years, and what the consequences of that were on 9-11. The book follows all that happened in terms of protecting the office of the President and the continuation of government as events unfolded.
