Detailed and exhaustive

While a little repetitive, it emphasises that recovery and adaptation is achieved through the simplest methods, sleep, relation and nutrition. Very practical advice, and logical way to determine which methods to employ

Best Recovery Book Currently Available

Straight talk from really smart people

When you’re an athlete, the market for recovery products is insanely saturated. Bands, rollers, supplements, compression, heat, cold, electrical stimulation, massage...the list goes on and on.

So when it comes down to it, what actually matters?

This book gave me straight answers about how recovery affects my training and how my life affects my recovery. It even prioritizes the most important and effective strategies to implement.

I love the straight talk from scientists who know their stuff, rely on evidence, and aren’t selling you a damn thing other than their book.

Athletes who put time, energy and money into their training will find this book well worth their time and money we well.

Recovery questions? This is your last stop.

I cannot begin to describe how valuable this book is. Any questions you have about some rinky dink recovery tool will be answered. More importantly the way you program for yourself and clients will hopefully change for the better. SPOILER. Every activity comes at a price, choose what's most valuable to you and focus on being happy! Dr. James has a great voice for this, maintains a professional tone and lightens the mood every few lines. Fantastic book, I will be listening once more.

Narration all but ruins the book

I’ve never left a review before, but had to for this book. The content is not bad, but the narration is so fast paced with little or no pauses, that it’s often incredibly hard to follow. Weird how they would put all the effort into making an audiobook and putting it on to this platform , and have the narration be so fast and hard to listen to. Wonder how they didn’t notice it before they published it onto the site. Again, content is not terrible, and actually some decent lessons to be learned, but the narration almost makes it unlistenable.

Excellent book!

Unlike many other strength training informational books out there, this book contains the most relevant information overall of most everything I've read, and that's a lot of books.
