It was disappointing. I really like Mary Balogh books but this one had no edge of your seat or heat. I will see what book two brings. It sounds a little more interesting.

I read the mixed reviews before starting this book and was very close to calling it quits on the first chapter. It was all land description and no story! Chapter 3 was starting to sound about the same, but then it got back to the Mary Balogh story like in the Westbrook novels. This book is good and sweet. However, I just finished Book 2 in the series and it was wonderful! You have to listen to this first though, so don’t give up on it. The series is worth the shaky start.

Beautiful, romantic, epic. Mary Balogh has done it again, and Rosalyn Landor knocks it out of the part as usual.

I love Mary Balogh but, if she was a first time author, I doubt if she would get this book published. I'm at chapter 8, I can't remember the layers of back story information and I don't really care for the hero. Going to let it rest and come back to it maybe. Roslyn Landor is great, as usual.
