Sindy has always had a passion for research. She began researching before being diagnosed with Friedrich’s Ataxia (FA) in 1999. After the diagnoses, she took a different approach to wellness. She knew a lot of choices that are made in life can affect your health in a good or bad way.  

Over the years, she saw our medical system was missing patient intimacy and empathy. “That is why doctor's call it a 'practice' because they are always practicing,” Heard says. She is a wife and mom of two. She's writing, doing book signings, and going to school.  

This journey she took to better health inspired her to write about it. With her first book out, she is on a path to many more firsts. 

Research Me: God, Body, Illness is a personal story about the journey I took toward healing an illness, only to realize it took becoming fully accountable for my own health. Research Me reveals the tools and techniques I employed in my quest for wellness. Using myself as an example, I demonstrate the necessity of identifying and treating the root causes of your illness, the importance of controlling your own records, and how to keep an activity and food log to help you resolve problems as they develop.
