Description

This audiobook explains why AI is unique, what legal and ethical problems it could cause, and how we can address them. It argues that AI is unlike any other previous technology, owing to its ability to take decisions independently and unpredictably. This gives rise to three issues: responsibility - who is liable if AI causes harm; rights - the disputed moral and pragmatic grounds for granting AI legal personality; and the ethics surrounding the decision-making of AI. The audiobook suggests that in order to address these questions we need to develop new institutions and regulations on a cross-industry and international level. Incorporating clear explanations of complex topics, Robot Rules will appeal to a multidisciplinary audience, from those with an interest in law, politics, and philosophy, to computer programming, engineering, and neuroscience.

Regulation is boring and necessary

This is an informative read. It is also very interesting to discuss the wants (needs) to regulate this technology.

It bizarre to think we are making rules for something we created, that will supersede us.

And we try to control it. Just like other people. We must control.
Maybe we have to build relationships with them?

Can't Robots just regulate themselves?

When discussing worldwide regulation for robots/AI, I am wary as we cannot even get along . Already, how often do we work as one. Look at the UN security council. 5 countries get to decide for the world. How is that working out?

Regulation is for the masses, not the powerful. And the powerful will make this tech. Will they not use it to keep their advantage?

However, we make things work. Incrementally

While regulation is a bit un interesting, the thoughts behind it will effect us all. I do hope many people from all walks of life get involved. Shape it, and keep it dynamic.

For me personally, I found it hard to stay focused as some sections seemed boring. No regrets making this purchase though.
