Description

Expert mountain climber Jayden Harris has the world at her feet until an avalanche at Everest base camp sweeps it all out from under her. She wants nothing more to do with the mountains, and turns her back on it all.

Rhian Phillips is a successful London marketing executive who has the chance of a lifetime fall in her lap. She’s sent to produce a reality TV series on competitive climbers, while showcasing the stunning beauty of a Patagonian glacier and the Cerro Fitz Roy range.

An accident brings Jayden and Rhian together, and outside pressures keep them at each other’s sides. When you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place eventually something has to give. The one thing they never counted on was them both wanting to stay together.

A lesbian romance about pushing onwards and defying expectations.

Shoe-horned and stilted (some spoilers)

This is a climbing book for people who dont know anything about climbing. A reality show story for people who dont know anything about TV show production. A lesbian romance for people who dont know of any better rock climbing reality show "fake" lesbian romance books out there.
The narrator was fine until she attempted anything beyond a British or Irish accent. And with Russian, Spanish, and Japanese characters, this made for comical (and distracting) dialogue.
The overall book is rated PG, PG-13, until the last 20 minutes devoted to one of the most awkward sex scenes I've ever read bumping it up to R. A plea to all authors out there: dont use the word engorged. Just stop it.
Other than that, decently entertaining but not something I'll be recommending in earnest.

More like a 4.5... still, very good!

I really enjoyed this audio book. I loved the narration, the storyline, the dialogue, the fact that it turned into a romantic, icy, amazing race, and I really am a sucker for the stories where two people pretend to be dating then fall in love anyway... my only real issue was the abrupt ending. I was listening to it, thinking there was probably another 5 minutes, and she said "The End." Anyway, great listen!

I loved Rock and A Hard Place. Great story. Loved the climbing details. A sport I know nothing about. Excellent narration by Nicola Victoria Vincent.

Hard to put down

The narrator did a great job with this book. It was detailed and informative even though I know nothing about climbing. The characters and story were well developed.

Don't Miss This One!!!

As always, a fantastic narration by Nicola Victoria Vincent. When you give her great material, and I'm telling you this was GREAT material, and she' brings it alive. If you enjoy adventure sports then you'll love this book. Don't miss it!

Like a reality show but in writing

I usually enjoy this kind of book but I was disappointed by this one. Mainly because how much drama played out during the second part of the story. This book has two types of characters. The bad seeds on the one hand and the glorified characters on the other hand. The bad seeds behave badly as you can imagine. One of the bad seeds is bullied by the glorified characters, and thus the glorified characters behaves as bad as the bad seeds. The plot focuses so much on drama that it almost forgets about the adventure aspects of the book.

Marvelous author and performance.

The story of a heart broken on Everest and a chance of healing in Patagonia. Jaden lost her partner on Everest and ran from the mountains vowing to never return. Then her sister is hurt in a fall into a crevasse and Jaden is forced to replace her on a reality show. Riley is running the marketing and business side job operations. A romance and adventure story. Recommended.

good read!

Funny moments combined with moments that you want to shake the characters adds up to a pretty good damn read.

Great story!

This had a great story line and kept me intrigued throughout the whole book. There are some similar type of books that sound too generic, but this one doesn't at all.
