À propos de cet audio
Hired by Cicero to investigate the charges, Gordianus sets out to discover the truth in a case - and a society - rife with deceit, betrayal, and conspiracy. As he draws nearer to the truth, the conspiracy looms ever larger until Gordianus begins to perceive the hand of the dictator Sulla himself. Playing for stakes much higher than he bargained for, Gordianus finds that not only is he himself endangered but so are all those around him as well.

This, the first Gordianus story, published in 1991, is set in the final days of the dictatorship of Lucius Cornelius Sulla, and revolves around a man accused of the most heinous crime in Rime, parricide, killing one’s father.
Scott Harrison narrates this skillfully, bringing the voices of Cicero, Tyro, Gordianus, and all the characters to life.
Watch for Gordianus negotiating the realities of slaves and their place in Roman society. That’s a theme that is further developed in subsequent Gordianus novels.
Highly recommended.
