I watched the movie some time ago so when I saw this version I wanted to see how it compared. I think this is better. I think being able to hear Jack's thoughts made a major difference.

It was definitely not something I am used to. I don't think I have ever listened to a book read by a child. I don't think I would do it again, but I am glad I did do it this once.

The story was good. Seemed well researched and although it was sad and dark it was definitely believable.

4.5 Stars. Another great read\listen

Having this story told by a 5 year old was unique, and took me a little bit to get my head around. Initially, I also expected a bit more suspense whereas this was definately a psychological drama.

I particularly enjoyed the second half of the book, and the child development and mental health aspects of this story (more than the captivity plot itself). This may be because I wasn't a fan of the female lead and may have been influenced by the narration.

Overall, kudos to the author for a well researched book, which kept a continuous pace, and made me think. I think I'll remember Jack for a while.
