À propos de cet audio

I had my whole life planned out... until I met a hockey player obsessed with breaking all of my rules.

My five simple rules for hooking up keep me from being distracted. Now that I'm so close to landing my dream internship, nothing is going to make me break them. Not even a protective hockey player with clear grey eyes, a sharp jaw, and a body that makes my breath catch.

Until Jax wins a bet and one kiss has me breaking them all.

Rule Number Five is book one in the Rule Breaker series from USA Today bestselling author J. Wilder. If you want squishy, warm, happy feelings, and quality spice her books are for you.

I read the paperback in February, loved it! Love it’s now available audible. Narrator Nikki Grey brings to life Sid, a boss FMC who wont let anyone get in the way of her dream. Now, I am completely obsessed with Jax Ryder narrated my Edward Black. Spicey, the rules, he falls first, all the feels.

3/5 ⭐️

Initial thought: Rule Number Five was SO good, until it wasn’t.

The good: Sidney and Jax were both likeable MCs who I was really rooting for throughout essentially the entire book. The chemistry, the tension, the banter… all good! Their backstories and why they can both be “problematic” in their own ways is solid and well developed. The slow burn and the spice… great! Wilder’s writing style is really fun to read!

The not so good? The big moment when it all comes together. I hesitate using the word climax here because in all other instances in this book the climaxES (plural) are great 😏, but the actual story climax really ruined it for me, and solely because of how unrealistic it is. I get it, this book is fiction… but when most of the story draws from what the NHL really is like as part of the way to increase the tension, switching gears to suit the purposes of the story ending makes me as a reader very frustrated.

It’s still a good book! Once I’ve let the frustration go I will likely continue the series!

Left me saying “but whyyyyy?”

I forgot how much I love this book by J Wilder. Edward Black and NIkki Grey definitely encapsulate the characters with his "he falls first" mentality and her "I don't date hockey players" rules.
If you like hockey romance, this should be an instant download.
