À propos de cet audio

The dead have risen, and they are hungry. Slow and plodding, they are legion. The undead hunt the living. Stop and they will catch you. Hide and they will find you. If you have a heartbeat, you do the only thing you can: You run.

Survivors escape to an island stronghold: a cop and his daughter, a computer nerd, a garbage man with a piece of rebar, and an escapee from a mental hospital with a lifesaving secret. After reaching Alcatraz, the ever-expanding group of survivors realize that the infected are not the only threat. Caught between the viciousness of the undead, and the heartlessness of the living, what choice is there? Run.

This was such a pleasant surprise. There was only one rating, and it was three stars, but the wright up sounded really intriguing so I went for it. I was not disappointed! Well written, I only wish 2 and 3 were on audible as well.

Great zombie story!

Rich Restucci offers the equivalent of a high school creative writing class assignment written by a ComicCon-attending wannabe-soldier B-grade horror-movie geek. The characters are so cookie-cutter stereotypical that I couldn't take the story seriously (survivalist Texan, ex-military oldtimer, computer nerd kid who turns out to be a one-man zombie-killing machine, violent black gangbangers, pretty girls in need of rescue, cutesy kids, etc.). I must admit that the existence of a survivor who's immune to zombie attention for some reason is intriguing, but when the story devolves into a military force versus military force conflict (firing missiles at each other across San Francisco Bay) this became a challenging listen to even power through.

As to presentation: Reader David Drummond doesn't particularly distinguish himself - his diction, timbre, cadence, and tone are commendable (if unspectacular) - but his professionalism is uncanny. How he can keep a straight face while delivering the dialogue that he is given is endlessly impressive. He loses points for some cartoonish character interpretations, but the narration is easily the best feature of the audiobook.

Altogether, this recording of 'Run' rates 2.5/10-stars. Even for free it was a waste of time. When Audible asks for a Credit.. Just. Don't.

[Note: The "Hey. How do you think you would do with 20 undead shamblers lurching towards you?" thought experiment in Chapter One is abandoned too quickly.]
