Histoire
Eight hundred years ago, an heir to the Vikings collected their myths and wrote them down. Here are those original tales of Odin and Thor, magic and might, presented for your listening enjoyment. The Prose Edda (also known as Snorri's Edda or The Younger Edda) is a manual of poetics written by Snorri Sturluson around the year 1220. In it, Snorri compiled the old myths and legends of the Norsemen, in order that poets from his time might draw on these stories to keep the Icelandic-Viking heritage alive.

Histoire
Most people have heard of the Celts - the elusive, ancient tribal people who resided in present-day England, Ireland, Scotland and France. Paradoxically characterized as both barbaric and innocent, the Celts appeal to the modern world as a symbol of a bygone era, a world destroyed by the ambition of empire and the spread of Christianity throughout Western Europe. Despite the pervasive cultural and literary influence of the Celts, shockingly little is known of their way of life and beliefs, because very few records of their stories exist.

Description
Everything you need to know to begin working with runes.
The enigmatic nature of the runes is undeniable. But what are runes, exactly?
In Runes for Beginners, best-selling author Lisa Chamberlain shines the light on these ancient symbols, showing you how to discover and utilize their unique magical energies. With both an eye toward tradition and a multicultural spirit, Lisa combines an appreciation for the Germanic roots of the runes with a more eclectic Neopagan approach.
Runes for Beginners is completely accessible to those with no experience in Northern European magical traditions, yet it doesn't ignore those traditions altogether. Here, you'll learn all you need to know to start working with runes, including:
- The history of the runes and their role within the framework of the Germanic magical worldview
- The origins of runic wisdom in Norse mythology
- An overview of the Elder Futhark, the oldest-known runic alphabet and most widely used rune system in contemporary Neopaganism
- Basic techniques of rune magic, including rune scripts, bind runes, and creating runic talismans
- How to make your own runes
- Instructions for traditional rune-casting as well as contemporary rune spreads
- Tips for successful divination
- The divinatory meanings and magical uses of each rune in the Elder Futhark
- A suggested-reading list for further exploring the runes and the magical and spiritual traditions of the ancient Germanic peoples
- Detailed tables of correspondence for a handy, condensed magical and divinatory guide
By the end of this guide, you will have a working knowledge of the runes that will enable you to use them with confidence in magic and divination. If you're ready to start exploring the runes for yourself, just scroll to the top of the page and hit the "Buy Now" button!

Jarring reading for an interesting subject.
Narration is so bad I'm going to try to get a refund. The pronunciation (or pronunsayshun as the narrator says it) of words is difficult to listen to (could be a regional American accent but I don't know, all the vowels are over pronounced) and the reading is poorly cut with inconsistent volume. Only gave story 3 stars because it's so hard to absorb any info. Listening to her butcher Yggdrasil (Yewgdrasih[l] for the Danes or Igdrasih for the Norwegians NOT IGdraSAHY) and the historian Tacitus (Tassitus not TACKYTOOS) was physically painful to endure. They're vowels not assault weapons.
