Santas Around the World is my second book about Christmas, the first one being The History of Santa Claus. In The History of Santa Claus, I traced the evolution of the jolly man in red from Bishop Nicholas of Myra to his later incarnations in America and Europe: Saint Nicholas, Sinterklaas, Samichlaus, Father Christmas, Grandfather Frost, Santa Claus, and many others. In this book, they come to life in a special way!
In Santas Around the World, I have showcased Rosewood Service’s exhibit of the same name located at 1223 Main Street in Great Bend, Kansas.
This book will give you a world tour to see the differences and similarities of the familiar man most people know simply as Santa. Whether he looks like the red-suited giver of gifts or a more exotic variation on the figure from Clement Moore’s The Night Before Christmas, you will marvel at the beauty of the sculptures while taking a mini-vacation that will explain how Christmas is celebrated around the world.
