premis has been decent in the series so far. main character is a bit too fortuitous with meeting new people who can instantly do everything and solve all his problems.
he needs more struggle to not seem so OP.
narration has been rather lacking. all portrayed characters speak in the same breathy tone, sometimes hard to tell who is supposed to be speaking, and since they all sound pretty much the same, it just comes off as flat.
almost like how you would read a book to your kids if you were not in any way a voice actor.

This book while enjoyable felt more like an intermission. It’s largely slice of life building a store and networking that honestly could have been skipped over, the first conflict occurs past the half way point and there are only basically 3 periods of fights and very little political intrigue until the very end. This isn’t the combat and intrigue seen in the previous 2 books. However, it ends on a very intriguing note and the 4th and 5th books should be more promising. Overall writing is the same maybe a slight dip in voice acting particularly the voice used for Jax, and a bit less funny. Our bunny gets the biggest chuckle when doing a immigrations question and answer session.

The main criticism I have is the inflections the voice actor uses for the supporting charecters... It's like everyone sounds concerned or scared all the time... The mc is OP but that's kind of the point and the story is pretty good.

Other than the over use of the word”sigh”, this was an amazing sequel to the first two books. Felt too short but I really enjoyed it.

Anyone else who is young or female or not the main character, save for a few characters, sounds the same with the strangest way of talking or enunciating I’ve heard from a narrator. Clearly the narrator can speak with a normal narration voice as he does with the MC, but everyone else sounds or comes across as apathetic or overly concerned or like a wilting flower. I don’t understand it.

I can’t imagine people sounding like this in real life, I would unfriend them, I couldn’t do it, I just couldn’t do it. It’s like your mother speaking down to you all the time or speaking wistfully of by gone days while still somehow talking down to you, or like an apathetic teenager that was told they had to clean their room, yet is still talking down to you. And still, somehow, all of this is said with this strange cadence and way of narrating that is so unnatural in any setting you would imagine it being used in, yet is used so liberally it makes me want to quit the book 3 or 4 times until I get used to it. Look, I sound mean maybe but I’m not trying to be, I don’t think anyone is making the narrator talk like this. His MC voicing is great, It’s just almost every other voice is ridiculous and is hard to take seriously. Everyone besides the main character and a few male characters sounds whiny. What’s most off to me is that the affectation of this vocal style or cadence is layered over-top the slightest of variations voiced for each character so 80% of this world sounds like this. Please stop.

The books have a few odd things about them but I like this series and the way the story is going. There is something very blunt about the main character which is oddly appealing I guess. Anyhow I look forward to the next book.

Very interesting. Strange way to throw us into the series, but I’m ready for the next one. If I had one criticism, it’s the phrase “clicks his tongue”. That somehow comes up about 50 times. Everything else is great, the narrator is strong, and I look forward to seeing where it goes from here.

Nothing happened in this book. Certainly nothing that justifies me buying the next book. There didn't used to be this many stat dumps, its pretty obviously being used for filler at this point.

This is where I pull the plug, hopefully they let me refund.
