honestly it feels like a third of the story was re-recorded and its super obvious when the narators voice changes mid paragraph. really takes me out of it.

good story but audio fluctuates

If you're reading this, you probably liked the first book. I did - although I found it badly written with parts that frustrated me. The main character bumbled his way through the book with no real plan, finding stunning success at every turn. Enemies were all clearly bad people, and friends always adored the main character. Every attractive woman mentioned fell for his charms. Personal traumas and convictions were mentioned, then forgotten about. But the book was fun! The main character was godlike and at the center of a growing number of beautiful women, and there was a plot to the book. Plus, the voice acting was superb!

Book 2 has all of the flaws of the first, but with a growing sense that the main character truly is amoral - willing to do awful things for his own advancement, even when there could have been a better way to get the same goal. THAT is a dealbreaker for me - if I can't honestly say I LIKE the main character, I stop reading (well, listening).

Sorry, Bruce. I'm going to have to give this series a pass.
