I highly recommend Say Hello. Carly Findlay discusses her personal life growing up, navigating school, friendships, relationships, dating, marriage, work and career experiences while also sharing real depth, understanding and advice regarding the experience of being visibly different and dealing with issues like rude people, poor service, judgement, rejection and grief. I love her discussion of advocacy, ally’s and awareness. She names other great disability activists to pay attention to and resources. I loved Ch 8 I don’t want a cure and Ch 28 Emotional labour. I enjoyed every single one of her f$%&s and sh*#s. She brings a levity and frankness to sometimes difficult but very necessary subject matter. I loved it so much I am going to be listening to it again and again. And seriously, who doesn’t love Savage Garden!?! As a disabled woman on the other side of the world, I really needed this.
