The reader uses a very poor and phony German accent imitation for every German quote. This is totally annoying and ruins the book. I gave up finishing the book for that reason…

Maybe good to read but not to listen to

It was a well done story of people who stood up against Hitler. It also includes a prevue from the Teutonic knits and than with Napoleon and the Prussian history including the life of well known authors like Goethe and many more.

Two observations:
I am heartened to learn how many people were trying to take Hitler out, including within his close circle. Many more than I thought. I’m not an advocate of assassinations, but just think how many lives could have been saved!
This book goes beyond the main stories and delves into everything from philosophy and authors to just and unjust wars. I had to listen twice to absorb it all, but it gave me a lot to think about.
