I have loved listening to this series, the voice is captivating and strong. the characters are fantastic and loyal.

It has a kickass shero with a mysterious past and a villain who clearly needs to be taken out. Good Callahan fun! A disturbing side segment in a book about child abuse actually involves adults who were victims of child abuse and may have been put in to emphasize the lifelong impact of child abuse. There’s a guy who targets abused teens who feel they have nothing to live for and convinces them to give up their ‘life’ and anyone they care for to be part of an elite team/family - permanently. As in life-time servitude. As in the only way out is as a corpse. They joined as vulnerable teens with a limited understanding of what they would be giving up and in a classic case of Stockholm syndrome, genuinely still believe they owe him their entire lives. Since this segment obviously didn’t need to be there to move the vengeance plot forward, I’m hoping to find out in a future book how and when this extremely charismatic leader will be taken down. In any case, it was very cool to watch Sean try to woo a female version of him. And I always love listening to this narrator.
