I really don't like how they are changing Khalan? for her to give up and have that weak mentality at the very very end is so so so unlike her.......

OMG what has happen to Goodking
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Very very frustrating. I don't know what the author is thinking. For the last 3 books, he has changed the format and i'm just not enjoying them. His first 10 books were some of the best books i've ever read but the last three in the series are becoming more and more of a joke. Terry Goodkind does not wrap up the sub plot as he has done in each book in the beginning and this new format is very drawn out. This book worse than the last two. I think maybe he is just stretching the same story line out for another 10 books necessarily instead of actually finishing a story in each book and starting a new sub plot in the bigger story like in early in the series. Come Terry, get back to the format that has got you to this far.
What could Terry Goodkind have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
very slow and drawn out. Could have said the exactly same thing in a book half this size.
Do you think Severed Souls needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Unfortunately, because of the way Terry Goodkind is writing the new books, yes there needs to be a followup book. I getting tired of unfinished stories and don't think i'll be rushing to get the next book.

I hope the author actually takes note of the many similar comments about the way he is writing these days and goes back to his old format and providing a story that has a beggining, middle and END for each of his books

Enough is ENOUGH!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. I have become increasingly frustrated by Goodkind’s need to force his moralistic opinions down his reader’s throats. It was not bad at all in the early books. But in each successive story the preaching has gotten worse and worse – to where in this book one of his characters is spouting some moralistic monologue or other almost constantly! It has gotten to the point where the story lines are getting lost in all the moralistic chatter. The length of the book could have easily been half of what it is – with no lose in the actual story line. What a shame!
Oh Yes – I actually liked the story – what there was of it.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I need to finish ‘The New Watch’, read several stories by Mercedes Lackey I bought and have pending, or the 1st book in the Safehold series by David Weber (LOVE his Honor Harrington series, and hope this is as similar as it seems). Just finished 'The Book of Life' by Deborah Harkness. I really enjoyed that one.
What does Sam Tsoutsouvas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I like Sam’s voice. And I like the passion he brings to the story when intensity is called for. He also does a fairly good job of giving unique voices to most of the main characters.
Did Severed Souls inspire you to do anything?
Stop listening.

This will probably be my last Goodkind book. I can't stand any more moralistic preaching. It really ruins the stories for me.

Worst Book in the Series
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A faster pace, By far the pace is to slow! Story line should of been better. It read like Terry is trying to get 10 more books out of this series

Another damn Zombie book
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better storyline and for gods sake, if I have to hear the word "soul" one more time I am going to effing scream!

End this stupid half people storyline and get back to making magical stories

He's ok, he's not the worst narrator I've heard by far. We need more talented narrators like Kate Reading and Michael Kramer

Opinion on Severed Souls
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No
What was most disappointing about Terry Goodkind’s story?
Terry Goodkind didn't put his heart into his book so it is slow. I want him to take me on a real Journey...for the next book maybe Bring the sliph back and bring in the mud people to fight. He could show me some 3 thousand year old magic. Bring the barriers back up. I want him to show me that Richard and Kahlan aren't completely grown up. Show more spark. He put on a performance but it seems like he feels sad about something so the book is slow and sleepy. The next book could end with a bang because he he is setting up for a big battle or maybe two. If I was him I would bring Richard back and bring with him some underworld magic. There are so many ideas and so many tools he can work with.

I can't believe he actually wrote this book...
What would have made Severed Souls better?
A plot that actually went somewhere.
What could Terry Goodkind have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
This is by far the worst book he has ever written. The story wasn't told well, and it was completely devoid of feeling. Goodkind used to be the kind of writer that made you laugh out loud and cry, but this book just left me feeling empty.
What does Sam Tsoutsouvas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He is a great narrator. I like his voice as a whole, and he has decent differences in character voices.

I wish I had never read past Confessor. This book will ruin any fan's love of The Sword of Truth series.

Zombies
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Terrry Gookind was my favorite author and I love the story of Kahlan and Richard - the entire first 10 books of it - but now he turned into something altogether different - or common, unfortunately...does everything has to be about zombies these days? He wrote an exceptional story but now turns average or less...
What could Terry Goodkind have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Leave the zombies out. He is such a good writer, he does not need them...

Just bad
This book is terrible. I loved the SoT books but this was just bad. Let's all play the terry goodkind drinking game. Every time he says "occult power" take a sip. You'll be drunk within two chapters. I definitely don't recall the original SoT books being this atrocious.

A shockingly disappointing adition to the series
What was most disappointing about Terry Goodkind’s story?
The story progressed in a painfully sluggish manner and ended in a way that made me feel that Goodkind simply wrapped things up as quickly as possible to meet a deadline.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Hey......it's a Sword of Truth book which is probably my favorite series......too bad it wasn't a good addition to the series

very, very good book

loved the book, really good narrator and I hope that this wasn't the last book. the only problem I have with Goodkind's books is the rehashing of conversations when the characters seem to be in a hurry, really, if you need to get somewhere fast don't talk about it for 50 pages, lol, otherwise cant wait for the next one
