Description

All-new action in the number-one New York Times best-selling urban fantasy series.

When mechanic and shapeshifter Mercy Thompson attempts to return a powerful Fae book she'd previously borrowed in an act of desperation, she finds the bookstore locked up and closed down. It seems the book contains secret knowledge - and the Fae will do just about anything to keep it out of the wrong hands.

And if that doesn't take enough of Mercy's attention, her friend Samuel is struggling with his wolf side - leaving Mercy to cover for him, lest his own father declare Sam's life forfeit.

All in all, Mercy has had better days. And if she isn't careful, she might not have many more to live.

Well Worth the Listen

Another good story in this series. Patricia Briggs keeps developing this world in interesting ways. I love the female protagonist, who is smart and capable, surviving largely by her wits. Coyote gets drawn to trouble like a fish to water, but she usually finds some way of wiggling out of it.

Review

Silver Born is, as always, a fantastic meshing of Patricia Briggs' amazing stories and Lorilei King's wonderful narrative talents.
Lorilei King makes all the characters come alive. Going so far as to give each one a unique voice designed around each one. The extra effort into making each character pop makes this preformince incredibly enjoyable to listen to.
Of course none of that would be possible without the rich and expressive world Patricia Briggs has written into existence. Silver Born is an excellent continuation of Mercy's story. It resolves past story lines, paves the way for new ones, and expands the cast of characters in an enjoyable fashion. It's truly worth the listen.

Highly recommend

I finished listening to Moon Called (the 1st book in this series) and immediately bought the whole series in print and read them all in a week. I then bought the audio of the 5th book, Silver Borne, because i loved it so much. To me the 1st and 5th were the best, but the whole series is extremely well done. Wasnt crazy about the voice of the male lead in Moon Called but for the record by Silver Borne this narrator was in her stride and every voice was perfectly suited to the characters. Other great thing about these as audio is that they are not that long but long enough. LOVED THIS BOOK. Nice steamy ending too though this one is the only one in the series that were really focused on romance. FYI- the rumor is there will be a 6th book in 2011. I checked!

This Series Just Keeps Getting Better!

I have turned into a huge fan of Patricia Briggs.
Her stories are always fast paced and very interesting.
In "Silver Borne" we get a little more romance, than in the previous books. Which only makes the story, that much better.
All the "Mercy" books are narrated by, Lorelei King. She does a great job of adding depth to the story. Her narration makes "Mercy" come alive.
I would recommend this book.

More Trouble for Mercy

Silver Borne is an excellent Mercy Thompson book. It has a lot of plot around the pack, good romance between her and Bran, and a compelling story with all our favorite creatures. We get the fay, vampires, and our werewolves. It's good urban fantasy with some romance. It feels like two separate plots that don't really interconnect, but there are some hooks that keep you interested the whole way through. I think the series is really starting to hit it's stride. Lorelei King is stellar as Mercy and the whole cast. She does a great job bringing life and suspense to the characters.

Awkward and Halting

Two different story lines that don't blend at all. Back and forth with no connection.

Filler

I love the series so far, but this book felt like filler to me. This book also felt very short. Despite all of that I am going to finish the series.

So much for not being a romance novel

I love the story, but all the lovy- doveyness is getting distracting. I think it's hilarious that half the reviews I read about the very first book made it very clear that it was NOT a romance novel despite the cover. the novel in the cover are starting to come together... I can't believe I just said that.

Just okay for me....

The series is usually pretty action packed and the stories are very well thought out and sculpted with a few twists and turns. For this book I felt like the story was a little stagnant. I felt like I was getting a lot of explainations and not a lot of story. Please stop explaining werewolf dominance. It's the fifth book. We get it already. She is still giving explanations for concepts that we already learned in previous books. Constant explanations about dominance is not interesting. By now I thought she would have delved a little more into Mercy and her power as a walker instead there's a lot of talk about dominance/submission. I'm waiting for Mercy to start kicking but and growing into her pack status. I would also love to see her walker power fully develop into something more powerful. Despite being annoyed by the dominance thing, I would still say listen to/read the book. There are some things about the fae that are interesting.

Sam I Am

Once again Mercy is in the middle of it. You have a Werewolf whose ready to let it all go, A Pack that is in upheaval over Mercy being mated to Adam, and a missing Fae that may or may not have something to do with a book Marcy holds. Hold on to your Volkswagens, cause as usual this ride is going to be bumpy and leave a few car parts behind.
