Description

Roger Reaves grew up a poor farm boy in Georgia and went from making 'moonshine' to becoming one of the most prolific smugglers of the 20th century. He covered six continents, transporting 20 ton ship loads of hash, tons of cocaine, and completed more than 100 sorties across the US border with plane loads of marijuana. His friends and associates spanned the globe - from Medellin Cartel kingpins Jorge Ochoa and Pablo Escobar, to "Mr. Nice" Howard Marks and the infamous Barry Seal who was Roger's close friend and employee. He escaped from prison on five separate occasions; was shot down in both Mexico and Colombia; and tortured almost to death in a Mexican prison. Despite it all, Roger still has a twinkle in his eye as he recounts his life story. And you have probably never heard of him...till now.

WOW! CRAZY GOOD!

This book was so captivating and interesting, it's a bit of a slow burn to start, but picks up speed as you move forward through the early chapters. Roger Reaves is the narrator, and his is a genuine soft spoken southern accent adds that authenticity and emotion, giving you more insight to who Roger is and what makes him tick. This unbelievable journey gives you a rollercoaster ride of airplanes, boats, narcos, and the police, prisons...unveiling corruption, back-stabbing, informants, and just incredibly evil people with too much power. Reading many books of these smugglers (American Desperado etc.) this book stands right up there in the top 5 that I've read. I really hope that this book becomes a streaming mini-series or movie, it would be amazing if done right. Get this book, you won't be disappointed!

Couldn't finish it.

I really wanted this to be good. I gave it chapter after chapter to start grabbing my attention. the stories are all over the place, and difficult to follow. No doubt they are interesting stories, but they end up being confusing and choppy. the audio is terrible and poorly edited.

There are some books that need to be read by the author and principal of the story. this is not one of those times. This would have been far more palitable with a voice actor.
