À propos de cet audio

'I had a big cry—then I kept going'

Growing up in the Canadian Rockies, the mountains have always been home for Jenny Tough. Travelling the world, she's always discovered commonalities with mountains—and mountain people. Her major project is to run solo and unsupported across a mountain range on every continent where indigenous mountain people live isolated from the outside, urban world. Running solo and unsupported comes with obvious logistical as well as physical challenges, but running is also a common language—all people around the world do it—and it has always helped build connections across barriers of language and nationality.

Solo is the account of one woman's mission to run solo and unsupported across mountain ranges on six continents—overcoming obstacles, conquering fears and finding the joy in achieving her goals absolutely alone.

Jenny has put out an honest recount of her ambitious goals and her journey to achieve them. A welcome fresh perspective on what it is to have an adventure and how our inner vision of ourselves isn't always in line with how the outside world views us. It was a pleasure to listen to her growth and evolution as a woman and athlete throughout the years that the book covers. A highly recommended book!

An Inspiring Book

I enjoyed the story and narration. However, the author repeatedly puts herself in life threatening situations, and wears it as a badge of honour. I worry this sends the wrong message to inexperienced adventurers, who may then enter into dangerous situations because they think it’s normal, or even expected.

Everyone has their own risk tolerance, but I think the author misses her responsibility to caution others. It is possible to have epic adventures in the mountains safely.

Should have been more personal. Too much like a coach’s notebook,I never felt like I got the feeling of the places she visited

Lacking description and authenticity.I wish it was more personal. A bit dry
