Description
The dream of every writer is to have their heart type the words for them; as the voice of so many veterans and their families, my heart would not stop writing until our family's VA story was told. My husband of 16 years, James Anthony Caldon, the father of our three children, served with the Navy Seabees Mobile Construction Battalion in Vietnam in 1968. In January 1987, our lives suddenly changed forever.
My Husband was diagnosed with Stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It was certified by the VA as service-related due to exposure to Agent Orange. Our children were two, four, and six years old. I am now in my 19th year fighting for my VA DIC Spousal Benefits through insurmountable and never-ending paperwork and total disregard to the facts by the VA Claims System. I will continue to encourage all veterans and their families who each have their own story to live each day remembering.
