Description
On a planet code-named Gateway stands a mysterious portal to the past, the Guardian of Forever. Spock, Kirk, and McCoy have just returned from a voyage through the gateway with a young man named Zar - Spock's own son from ancient Sarpeidon! But while Spock and the brilliant, primitive youth try to bridge a gap of centuries and cultures, Gateway is seized by the Romulans. Too Short
This was the shortest most ill put together Star Trek "novel" (if you want to call it that) I've ever read. The story could have been so much better. The only good thing about the narration was having Leonard Nimoy and James Doohan

Warning this is a highly abridged book. Not even worth listening to
I did not realize when I purchased this book that I was only purchasing a very small portion of it. So much has been taken out that it has ruined the story ruined any character development and so on. I recommend buying an actual copy of the entire book and reading that.

Solid continuation of TOS episode
I’ve recently been catching up on Star Trek books that I missed as a teenager. This is — in part — a continuation of the penultimate episode of The Original Series, “All Our Yesterdays.” With James Doohan narrating and Leonard Nimoy voicing several internal monologues by Spock, Yesterday’s Son (1983) feels like a hidden episode of TOS. For Trekkies, a fun audiobook.

Star trek TOS
This was a great book, and great follow up book, I really wish they could've made these as special episode. It would have been great. I recommend this book and the follow up.

Nice Story based on Spock's TV time travel episode
Would you listen to Star Trek: Yesterday's Son again? Why?
Yes, It was a very interesting story with good narration. Leonard Nimory and James Doohan had extra charm and excitement to the story.
What did you like best about this story?
Spock went back in time to save a son that he conceived with a woman that he met when he traveled to the past.
What does Leonard Nimoy and James Doohan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Excitement, Charm, and increased enjoyment.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I wanted to hear the end of it, and it was a short story.

The sequel to this book is Star Trek: Time for Yesterday

Short and sweet

They completely gutted the book
With such a short running time, I was definitely expecting some abridgment of this rather large book. But they completely gutted it. The book consists completely of Spock and McCoy’s Vulcan storyline and the part of the book regarding Kirk and Adm. Lori Cianna is completely gone. This was the whole point of my purchasing this adaptation int he first place.
