À propos de cet audio

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • After Revenge of the Sith, a newly forged Darth Vader hunts for the secrets of life and death under the watchful eye of Emperor Palpatine.

In the wake of Emperor Palpatine’s rise to power, the true nature of his most sinister enforcer remains a mystery. Darth Vader is a dominant yet illusive figure: the shadow cast by a malignant Imperial regime, unknowable to even its top officials. But even as his humanity gives way to myth, Vader remains haunted by the promises of the dark side, seeking the ultimate power that his master has hinted at but withheld—the power to conquer death itself.

On the volcanic world of Mustafar, Vader undertakes a dark ritual, bleeding a kyber crystal to forge his lightsaber. This act unleashes a power far greater than he anticipated, giving him a glimpse into the limitless potential of the Force.

Vader is determined to follow this vision, even if it means defying his master’s orders. Yet he finds the Emperor suspiciously supportive of his mission, even sending Vader to the Diso system to investigate rumors of a Force-wielding shaman able to raise the dead. At his side are a cadre of the Emperor’s scarlet-robed Royal Guard, led by Colonel Halland Goth—a decorated soldier with a very personal interest in Vader’s mission.

Even as the Emperor’s true motivations reveal themselves, Vader falls deeper into obsession. His journey takes him far across the galaxy, chasing rumors and phantoms. But no matter how far he travels, he cannot escape the shadows within his own soul. Haunted by the echoes of his past, Vader circles the true resolution to his quest: only once all weakness is purged can he become a master of evil.

I enjoyed this book. Any time I can get more insight in the Star Wars universe I’ll take it. I read every new book that comes out and I’ m never disappointed.

Read it and decide for yourself

I'm about 5 hours in, and this an excellent production. The prologue is based around Dooku. Enjoy

Marc nails the narration as always. I just didn’t get gripped by the story. The title is “Master of Evil” and nothing really evil happened. Some cool situations and scenarios, but nothing all too thrilling or exciting.

Hype didn’t meet the story.

So, if you are going into this book hoping like I was for a Darth Vader focused story I think you’ll be a little disappointed. Now I’m not saying the story itself wasn’t good, just that my hopes and expectations kind of weakened the experience for me slightly. Overall on its own the story was still an interesting tale with Vader present for a majority of the book as well as an author who clearly enjoyed the works of legends and the new canon comics for Darth Vader. My only real problem was that the story itself had a main plot point that wasn’t all that interesting, and while the set up is well done, especially the opening chapters building up to the mystery of the story, I just couldn’t help but feel a little let down during the final act. Definitely worth a pick up but if anyone ever reads this my only suggestion would be to not really expect a big payoff from the mystery itself, but rather a payoff from the characters and their arcs. Because at the end of the day I’d say this is more of a character focused book than a plot focused book.

Narrator does a great job, the rest was… ok

Master of Evil hits like a force choke in the dark, swift, powerful, and impossible to ignore. This story dives deep into the minds of Vader, Sidious, and even Count Dooku in a way that feels like the franchise finally giving fans the rich, layered character work we have been craving since the golden age of Dave Filoni’s animated universe (Star Wars’ GOAT in my humble opinion).

What surprised me most was not just the depth of the Sith, but how seamlessly the book weaves Dooku’s intro chapter into the entirely new pairing of Halland Goth and his razor sharp, endlessly entertaining droid companion TC99. Their dynamic sparks. It feels like classic Star Wars, dangerous, witty, and strangely hopeful under all that darkness.

And then there is Marc Thompson. Let’s be real, this man is an audio Jedi Master. His narration turns the book from great to unforgettable. Every voice he performs, Sidious’s icy menace, Vader’s cold gravitas, Dooku’s aristocratic decay, Halland Goth’s grit, and so many others, hits with precision and emotion. Thompson is a one man cast, and he makes the galaxy feel alive with a visceral pulse.

When the story wrapped, I felt impressed, energized, and honestly grateful that Star Wars is still producing stories like this, bold enough to lean into the darkness but smart enough to remember that hope still matters.

This is absolutely a must listen for fans of Sith lore, The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch. It is a dark side driven tale, but like all true Star Wars stories, the flickers of light are what make it shine.
