À propos de cet audio

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In this gripping sequel to Star Wars: The Rising Storm, the light of the Jedi faces its darkest hour.

Time and again, the vicious raiders known as the Nihil have sought to bring the golden age of the High Republic to a fiery end. Time and again, the High Republic has emerged battered and weary but victorious thanks to its Jedi protectors—and there is no monument to their cause grander than the Starlight Beacon.

Hanging like a jewel in the Outer Rim, the Beacon embodies the High Republic at the apex of its aspirations: a hub of culture and knowledge, a bright torch against the darkness of the unknown, and an extended hand of welcome to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. As survivors and refugees flee the Nihil’s attacks, the Beacon and its crew stand ready to shelter and heal.

The grateful Knights and Padawans of the Jedi Order stationed there finally have a chance to recover—from the pain of their injuries and the grief of their losses. But the storm they thought had passed still rages; they are simply caught in its eye. Marchion Ro, the true mastermind of the Nihil, is preparing his most daring attack yet—one designed to snuff out the light of the Jedi.

It was a good book overall with some slower parts in the middle, read directly after the rising storm and this book isn’t on quite the same level, but again, as always an amazing performance from Marc!

Pretty good

I felt like these books progressively got better and better and this one really sent it home. I loved the thriller aspect of it mixed with action and sadness, the plot twists around each corner had me guessing and wanting more and more each chapter. I would recommend this to anyone and I can’t wait to see where the high republic takes us next

Amazing

just as good as the first book!

Honestly Marc Thompson’s performance was incredible. Unfortunately this story was a snooze fest. Way too much time wasted jumping around useless characters. This entire story could have been told in half the book with less useless character banter. Now it feels like this storyline is being intentionally dragged out and on.

Snooze fest

I'll read anything stars wars. I'm not discerning... I started Canon, and have just been gobbling it all up. Some is better than others but I like almost all of it. The high republic stuff started well in my opinion and has weakened, but this book was the peak of painful at times. I read/listen/watch Star Wars because it's an escape where generally some space-faring force wielding heroes can solve some obstacles/battles and make us all feel good. Or I can learn how Thrawn is the best ProAntagonsist I've ever read about.

If I wanted to be dragged through the mud for hours on end, and get 4 different painful angles on each disaster, I would become a New York Jets fan and buy season tickets.

Marc Thompson does a fantastic job with anything he does, he certainly can't be faulted. I finished it at least. I'm not sure how much of this is on Gray, or the High Republic Story line that they were likely asked to follow. Hard to know whether this story could have been saved by another author.

Potentially my least favourite star-wars book
