Wish I had read this 12 years ago

Becoming a stepmother at 20 to a 10 year-old stepdaughter (my partner was 40) was not easy at all. Nobody else was in my situation and my partner took it as a personal rejection that I didn’t love her right off the bat like he did.
I was not prepared for the role of a stepmother and having her only every summer and winter for the first 5 years didn’t really help normalize it for us. Every feeling I’ve felt in my body and every frustration and every issue that’s ever arisen is in this book. I’ve never felt so validated before. Only wish I had read it 12 years ago.
