Description

Steve Jobs is not just "the man behind the bitten apple" logo we all know so well, he is the founder of the world’s first trillion ($1,000,000,000,000) dollar company.

He is more than an ordinary man; he is, himself, a legend.

During his time on earth, his contribution toward the betterment of mankind was far more than what most people realize or understand. His ideas on aesthetics and his insistence on simplifying came from his natural ability to focus on the necessary and eject the rest. He understood the human condition and excelled at extracting the best for them and the best from them.

As all great men before him, and surely after him, he was misunderstood in many ways - from the reasons for his temperament to his ability to convert thought to action and action into product.

This audiobook takes you into the life of Steve Jobs more than just the events that happened in his life - but the workings of his mind as he handled those events and how me constantly moved forward with singular purpose and discipline of thought.

There are many areas of his life that seem familiar to us because we experience similar things. We have the same concerns, the same worries, the same reasons to laugh, and the same reasons to cry, but Steve shows us the way to keep moving forward and to make this a better place in every way possible.

This audiobook takes you on a journey of discovery - what you will find at the end of it is a better understanding of a man who did things very differently given the same set of circumstances we all experience in one way or another - and he took those circumstances and made them work - not just for him, but for the world around him as well.

Worth every minute.

This book was recommended to me by my son. I found that interesting since I bought my first Apple IIE in 1983, the year he was born. I also bought Apple stock the following year. The book was a tough listen for me because I felt like I had witnessed the events in real time when they happened. It's that good. Captivating, without pretense or hesitation to tell it the way the author saw it. The book captures the timeless essence of the genius that was the man Steve Jobs. When you have as large an impact on humanity as Jobs did, you enter the realm of immortality.

Eccentric Apple Inventor

This is a well-written book about an eccentric, explosive ex-hippie who, with others built Apple into a dynamic and very, very innovative company that provides us with new technologies, including computers, I-phones, I-Pads, music downloads, movie downloads, etc. They changed the face of America and the world of electronics. I now understand why my I-phone is designed as it is, and how much blood, sweat, tears and pepto-bismal/ ulcer medicine was required to bring it onto the public markets.
While I couldn't have worked for slavedriver Jobs, I credit him for harassing creative people into developing some great products.
I enjoyed the writing style of this author.

Loved this audible book. Couldn't put it down.

This book was a wonderful story of Steve Jobs, giving great insights to the person he was, a genius, perfectionist, and holding others to his own high standards, which seemed to help them achieve to a higher standard than they would have without that constant push by Jobs.
Definitely not kind hearted or even aware of others feelings, but did achieve high levels of amazing new technology with ideas and help from his friends and acquaintances, taking ideas and pushing them to the limit...
Enjoyed learning about his personal and family life.
I am a big fan of the iphone, and appreciate its ease of use especially since I am not particularly tech savvy.
This book was the behind the scenes of a great man whom I had already admired.
Unfortunate his having to deal with cancer and his death at such a young age and loss of a great mind!

Incredible and inspiring

JR MacGregor has written an incredible and thrilling masterpiece with “Steve Jobs.” I was absolutely enthralled by Jobs’ life story. I believe it goes without saying that Jobs, despite his reputation for being eccentric, was one of the most extraordinary leaders and visionaries of this era. JR MacGregor honors his legacy by crafting a wonderful biopic which reveals Jobs’ character—blemishes and all.

I had high expectations

There is a bit of repetition in the story; I considered it acceptable bearing in mind the length of the book. I also found it difficult to grasp who the author was talking about on a number of occasions. He would suddenly refer to someone by their first name and they had not been mentioned for quite some time. Eventually I found I just had to ignore those instances since they really did not matter that much to the overall impression of Steve Jobs.

Most influential biography I've listen

Covers an exceptional life. Explains how the features we use in modern computers and cell phones developed from the mind of Steve Jobs. Gives a model for how to live out of society's normal paths but in a way that leaves something useful behind to other people. Felt quickly written and edited in parts but Isaacson's world-class research and interview skills more than atone for this. Also some of the quirkier parts of Job's personality shine through. When he cried I laughed, when he died I cried.

Genius is rarely nice!

Loved the book! I thought the author was clear and honest and came away with the realization that we don't have to like Jobs to appreciate his genius and commitment to excellent products and experiences.

I came late to Apple products - just two years ago with my first iPhone (4). Now I have 2 iPhones, 2 iPods, 2 iPads and finally caved and bought an MacBook Air. I resisted on every one of them but softened as they each met my needs better than any other camera, music device or PC ever has in the past. As I use them I learn more and and have become a lifelong Apple device user - as long as they continue the level of innovation and excellence in their products that Jobs has inspired.

Until I listen this book I would not have been able to say why I loved these devices, now I know... And the gifts Jobs gave the world are these devices that work with our conscious minds and fingers AND to our unconscious delight - indeed, meeting needs we didn't know had.

In was never much of a fan of Steve Jobs and was not particularly interested in this book she it came out. Now that I listen it, I have much different perspective on both the man a d his legacy.
