Extremely inappropriate.

The things said on this audio are disgusting! I’m shocked at the name calling, shaming, fear mongering, and inducing of insecurities.

“Rabbit teeth”
“Friends call you silly”
“Make parents upset and angry because it costs so much money to fix”
“Only babies and little kids suck their thumbs. It’s a really sick thing to do, thumb sucking”
“Babyish”

Emphasis on “looking cool”

“…Think that I was kind of one of those silly people that didn’t have a good brain. I’m so glad I’m much older now and I look cool all the time”

This is a big yikes ! Making your child feel awful about something like this can cause the problem to continue and become an even bigger crutch. It’s a cycle of feeling bad and self soothing with the thumb.

I would suggest taking a more patient and accepting approach by working with the child to build other coping/soothing mechanisms so they don’t need to rely on the thumb to feel better.
