Description

I'm that guy. Camilla Landry rustles against me, the silky fabric of her overpriced lingerie slipping along my bruised rib. The porcelain perfection of her skin is even more innocent against the colorful ink dotting my own. It's demure meets damaged, pampered meets punctured.

So, yeah, it's obvious I'm that guy. Dominic Hughes. Her attempt at rebellion. Her bid to see what the other side of the tracks feel like. I'm okay with being used because, from where I'm sitting, the other side of the tracks have never looked so good.

ANOTHER AMAZING LANDRY ROMANCE

Now you'd think I'd know better after listening to all the other wonderful books in this addictive series.. but oh no no no.. I go and start this book.. yes START this book at bedtime - naively intending to listen to just a few chapters - huh.. well at 2 a.m I was still riveted. Rooting for a mismatched couple who were complete opposites. Mild-mannered heiress Camilla Landry with time on her hands for charity work and the handsome alpha Dominic Hughes - a dirt poor troubled tatooed boxer/air con engineer who fights so he can keep the roof over his head. He has a 'history' with the Landry brothers and wants nothing to do with them.. or from them. Their relationship is surely doomed?

Dom and Cam have already been in a 'no strings' secret relationship for ten months with absolutely no talk of getting serious because this stubborn alpha had a very different upbringing from Cam's - it was a bitter childhood which ended in bloodshed and tears. Dom's convinced there'll be no HEA for Cam and him because he's got nothing to offer her and refuses to pull her into his world - so he emotionally tries to keeps his distance. However, Cam doesn't see his failings.. only his strengths, his struggles and his loyalties (coupled with their amazing sexual chemistry of course). She tries really hard to mask her true feelings for Dom and continues a relationship devoid of HEA's while around her are happy Landry's who've found their soulmates, are married or engaged and who are already parents or happily pregnant. These are things Cam wants with Dom - but he's blinded by his circumstances and their life differences.

This is their dual POV journey.. one that will have challenges, pitfalls, emotional drama and cloudy skies.. but it'll also have passion, possessive behaviour, sexcapades, touching times and two separate loving families who clash with yet support a hero and heroine who are destined to be together.. but who are destined to make it difficult first. As we all know, the narration can make or break a book.. it can be a torture or a pleasure.. and thankfully this book was a pleasure because it was expertly narrated by Kai and Wen - a great team whose style of narration and talents made each chapter flow smoothly.. seriously good guys.

Worth a credit? Abso-freaking-lutely. I didn't think I was going to like it as the relationship was already established, a done deal with no build-up.. but very quickly Adriana Locke locked me in to the emotional turmoil, the conflict, the passion, the negatives and the positives that these two likeable characters battled to keep under their control. And another plus was that all of the other Landry clan were here too.. from the older alpha brothers who were looking out for their baby sis.. to the loving parents (as well as the 'significant others') who lend an ear, a shoulder to cry on or share wise words of wisdom at just the right time.

Dom is the Bomb!

Move over Landry men and make room for a new sexy, southern, alpha male! I absolutely loved this West Side Story meets Romeo & Juliet, forbidden romance. When Dominic Hughes comes to Camilla Landry's house to fix her air conditioning, Cam is drawn to this sexy man from the wrong side of the tracks. They take a chance and begin to see each other. Dom believes that there is an expiration date on their affair, because what could a good girl like Cam want with a bad boy who could never give her the life she deserves. Dom works 3 jobs as a repairman, bartender, and fighter, just to make ends meet, while Cam shops, and plans charity events for the elite of the community. But Cam isn't the pampered princess he thinks she is. She is smart, strong, loyal, loving and determined to take care of him. She grows to see the softer, kind and loyal side of this fighter. It hurts her when he won't integrate her into his life or mix with hers. But as their hearts become more involved and Doms desire to protect and make Cam happy grows, he finally agrees to meet one of her brothers. Now the fun really begins! The Landry brothers are so over protective, wanting what's best for Cam, on their terms of course. But Cam has to show them that she is capable of making good decisions on her own. Dom and Cam are complete opposites who challenge each other and make each other stronger and whole. They are so perfect together and their chemistry is off the charts. The Landry family is again essential in this story. I loved catching up on all the family but mostly seeing how they fight for each other to make sure they are safe and happy. The scenes with Ford, Lincoln, and Graham are priceless! This multifaceted story is the best of this already epic family saga! It is heart pounding, thrilling, moving, funny, and super hot and steamy.

Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott have such a smooth and easy rapport with their duet narration. They make each scene and the banter even more fun and engaging.

If you haven't tried this series yet, you must! You will love it, I promise!

Better Than I Hoped; But….

Loved this story! Many of the complaints of other reviewers I felt were solved when Dom meets Camilla’s father; It all made perfect sense to me!
MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT was with the FEMALE NARRATOR/NARRATION. Which is quite the conundrum because I quite liked her narration in the previous 4 books.
The SOUTHERN ACCENT she assigned to CAMILLA’S CHARACTER MADE HER SOUND DITZY AND WEAK; traits totally opposite of how think Camilla’s character was written to be. IMO she got stronger as the story progressed, which I thought the narration tempered.
My question is why the accent?? None of the other female characters in the previous 4 books were given an accent and they were all from Savannah (or there about) as well…

My favorite of the series!

I was not prepared for Cam’s book to be my favorite. We had glimces of her story in the others, but it was a great change of pace to start her story 10 months into a relationship with the guy from the wrong side of the tracks. I liked that they were already in the thick of the relationship, and at the point where things needed to change. This story felt so real and honest, and had the best character development of the series. I loved Cam and Don’s love story.

The author had a great ability to intertwine the characters from the other books without trying too hard. They added so much to the story. The Family feel really makes this series so great. I loved it! Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are so fantastic in this book and series! They add so much to the story.

Ending Less Than Satisfying.

Not sure what Ms. Locke was thinking with this one. I have followed the Landry family through all of the books until now, and loved it but this story lacks the ending it deserved.

Still a good story, not as good as some of the preceding books, but I enjoyed it and looked forward to the kind of ending that the other books delivered. Ms Locke built a beautiful love story with a myriad of interesting and compelling elements that I thoroughly enjoyed. But I think Camilla and Dominic were short changed just as their journey righted itself. Hoping a future book in this series provides the fleshed out HEA they so richly deserve.

Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott did a great job and added some additional fire to a story that might have fallen short without the right characterization. I have enjoyed their performances throughout the series tremendously, and they are now among my favorite voice talents for this genre.

Adriana Locke was new to me prior to the Landry family and I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Even this story. I will continue to follow her writing because I have to believe that somewhere along the line, the story for Camila’s twin will wrap everything up the way that I have come to expect from Ms. Locke.

Still worth the read, or the ‘listen’. While the story may not have been my favorite among Landry siblings, Camila and Dominic are definitely among my favorite characters. That being said, I can’t help but feel that they deserve a little more than this book provides. Holding my breath for the next chapter in their beautiful romance. ❤️❤️❤️

Cam & Dom

Sweet story of two people from the opposite side of the tracks and the struggles they face trying to mesh together their different upbringing and social status, what first started as lust morphed into love. Acceptance is hard but needed to make it, and eventually they do..

Hero not so much

This was a well-written book and I've enjoyed the previous books in the series.
I almost quit reading this one because I had a problem with how Dominic denegrated Camila's family at every turn and treated her like she was a spoiled princess. The bigger problem is she tolerated this behavior. She was supposed to be strong and trying to be independent and then puts up with this treatment? Sad.

Dom and Cam 4.5⭐️

Dom and Camilla are such a great addition to the Landry family saga! Their dynamic is so different from the other couples and it brings the perfect balance to the series.

‘No one has ever made me feel so safe and so reckless at the same time.’

Despite Dom’s bravado there are so many little things he does to show Cam how much he cares for her. Their relationship is endearing and frustrating and super smoking hot.

There’s so much growth for them but also within their respective families as well. As always, Adriana Locke has given us a story filled with heart, shenanigans and a healthy dose of heat!

Not the end of the Landry family series

On audible, the next book Says it should be “Sweet” but there is no book. After a little research, I figured out that Cams twin sister Siennas story, is in the Gibson boys series as “Crank”.

(Copy and paste the link from below)

Cams story is really sweet, and romantic. It was a little to much like my marriage to my ex husband, but other than that I liked it enough to find her sisters story and then started on the Gibson boys. I’m a little obsessed with the dual narration. Love it!
