Most people would steer clear of a crime scene this gory, but to Private Investigator Felix Renn a missing persons investigation comes as a pleasant surprise. After a few run-ins with "Black Lands entities," Felix has developed an unwanted reputation as a monster hunter, and in a world where paranormal has become the norm, the opportunity to get back to simple human crime is almost refreshing. In Sycamore, though, Felix will find that darkness isn't so easy to escape.

A riveting blend of supernatural horror and crime fiction, SYCAMORE is the debut novel by Ian Rogers and the world-at-large's introduction to the Black Lands universe. Set in an alternate-history Earth where portals to a monster-filled parallel dimension began appearing around the turn of the 20th century, SYCAMORE sets the stage for a world of stories centering the things that emerge from our worst nightmares.

Absolutely loved this introductory tale to Felix Renn, and the Blacklands

The story was perfection, lots of amazing twists and turns. Character development was excellent, easy to relate to the players in this story. My only complaint is that though the narrator was fantastic with the story telling, there were many times where the dialogue being switched from one character to another was tight, and could have benefited from a slight pause. That being said, I am happily relistening, and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
