Very dated and would have been better with a made up place and maybe a clear timeline to be relatable. It's clearly based in Canada and loosely on Toronto. They are in cottage country... so of course Ontario Police... yes because there is but one police department. If it's so rural, how long do you think the fire department takes?

This author wrote what she knew and not a lot of research into details that weren't related to her workplace experience and relationships. So many details that just don't add up. Ellie's age and the pop culture references are way off.

The protagonist is deeply wounded with mommy issues. Shocker. Reads like a Hallmark mystery instead of psychological thriller. The narrator is really what stands out, though even she cant save this story.
