After viewing "The Two Churchills" on Netflix, I had to read this book. Jennie Jerome Churchill lead her life on her own terms. She is my hero! The way she navigated her life within the constraints of her era is more than admirable to me. What she and her friends accomplished during a time of two wars, and when women just started to emerge and demand the vote, is beyond stunning. Think purchasing, staffing, equipping, furbishing and then managing a hospital ship and taking it to South Africa (Boer War); Creating a fully functioning Hospital out of nothing (WWI). As well, the historical facts that corrected some crucial assumptions regarding the early years of Winston Churchill's political career were a bonus. For me, Jennie re-enforced my own belief that if you come up against a wall don't beat your head against it, instead turn left or right and find a way around it.
