À propos de cet audio

What happens when the most ruthless obsession finds its darkest fixation?

She lives in the shadows. He rules them. She's the moon, and he the dark night encompassing her. She's surrounded by demons, and he's the biggest devil of them all.

And she's his.

Passion, obsession, possession. Theirs is a tale of danger, deviance, dread, desires, and the darkest flavors of love.

Annihilation is born.

The Annihilator is the highly anticipated fifth book in the bestselling Dark Verse series. The series must be listened to in order.

This tickles that darkness that lurks. Morally grey men are sweet but that teetering point of blackness is utter perfection…. Now where is the next book?

📚E-BOOK📚 & 🎧AUDIO🎧

The Annihilator is the highly anticipated fifth book in RuNyx's Dark Verse series, and while it certainly plunges into even darker territory than its predecessors, it didn't resonate with me in the same way the first three books did. This installment dives deep into themes of depression and suicide, making it one of the heaviest reads in the series—so definitely check trigger warnings before diving in.

Lyla completely stole my heart. Her trauma, pain, and journey toward healing felt raw and real. We often talk about Amara being the strongest character in this series, but Lyla isn’t far behind. However, despite her compelling arc, I struggled to feel a strong connection to the characters in this book, which made the overall experience feel somewhat distant.

The Shadow Man’s actions were especially difficult to overlook. His obsession with Lyla felt more like Stockholm Syndrome than love, and the way he kept her isolated from her brother—even after he rescued her—was something I couldn’t forgive. He may have whispered sweet words, but his choices always seemed to serve his own desires first.

And that ending? OMG. I get that there’s one more book left, but this one felt incomplete in a way that the others didn’t. The previous books had action-packed, gripping conclusions, whereas this one felt more like a slow unraveling. I found myself relieved when I reached the last page, which was disappointing for a series that usually keeps me hooked.
I’ll still read the final book, but this one made me hesitant. Sometimes a weaker installment can take away from the magic of an entire series, and I really hope the conclusion reignites what I once loved.
