Amazing read from an even more amazing human
An amazing story!! read the book before the audio version came out and listened to the audio in 3 days. Ross is a modern day explorer and is wise beyond his years.
His knowledge of physiology and nutrition is second to none..
theorist said it couldnt be done, but hes a practioner and but the theories to rest.

amazing and encouraging story
overall amazing story and achievement. I found it very encouraging, informative and profound.
narration is also great.
my only negative - as Ross said at the end- the book is not just telling of the story but also philosophy to sport science. and although the research is amazing, the stoicism gets a bit boring and repetitive, if you are listening the book for the story aspect of it. if you are interested in stoicism - you'll love it, but if you are not - you might quit half way through and maybe come back later.
nonetheless- highly recommend.

Lots of theories, brought through the story of the swim and other stories, beautifully done, I recommend to anyone interested in performance sports BUT also anyone who needs inspiration for their next adventure, big or small.

A pleasure to listen to
I remember hearing of Ross’s journey on social media when the swim was taking place. When he told his story on The Joe Rogan experience following the swim, I was fascinated by his tale and his enthusiasm. As a man who swam competitively for more than a decade, it’s not the swim that kept me entertained (although it certainly did impress me beyond words), it was Ross’s puppy-like enthusiasm and tenacity at which he completed his journey.
Deeply philosophical and intelligent in his approach, Ross and his crew’s personal journey follows in the footsteps of so many heroes and brave-souled adventurers and is a testament of human will. Truly one of the best physical and mental achievements I have ever had the pleasure of hearing.

Great writer and narrator
Loved it, would highly recommend! Small section roughly in the middle goes a little too much into details and drags on a little too long about swimming technique, but otherwise a great read!

Incredible story from beginning to end.

A must to change mindset when training
This book is a must to read and you’ll enjoy it more thanks to Ross’s narration! I highly recommend it to anyone who’s training for something or not as you will definitely learn that while it can be mental, if you are resilient, your body and mind will flow effortlessly.

Simply inspiring
What a wonderful book. I love the way Ross sectioned out the chapters with lessons he learned along his great journey. Even though he is super-human-Poseidon-level-god, he makes every point so relatable and understandable… even for us not so educated sports enthusiast.
I could not recommend this book more. It was a delight from start to finish. After I finished it, I went right on YouTube and watched the Red Bull series documenting his swim.
